  1. 1. 3D Knit fabrics : optimizing spacer knit fabrics for comfort and breathability in infant products

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Julia Svensson; Hanna Halldorf; [2023]
    Keywords : Spacer fabric; knitting; warp knit; circular knit; textile testing; ProCad Warpknit; infant product; comfort; mechanical properties.;

    Abstract : In this study we looked into an existing textile baby stroller seat and investigated whether there can be any advantage in changing the material to a spacer fabric from perspectives such as functionality, comfort, and sustainability. The subject of 3D knitting, and advanced knitting is being researched more and more because of its versatility in producing and changing parameters of knitted high quality products, but there is a lack of studies done on comfort for children when it comes to knitted spacer fabrics and not many studies have been done on spacer fabrics used for baby seats in strollers or other types of seats for children. 2. 2. Fungal pigmentation responses to microclimatic variables in isolated forest patches in Northern Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Karl Soler Kinnerbäck; [2023]
    Keywords : fungal ecology; mycology; functional traits; communities; pigmentation; CIELAB; lightness; microclimate; polypores;

    Abstract : Investigating functional traits is an important tool for understanding fungal communities, yet ecological functions of fungal pigmentation remain poorly investigated. Recent studies support the thermal-melanism hypothesis for fungal color lightness in relation to macroclimate, but it remains unclear if microclimate also affects fungal pigmentation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Statistical Analysis and Modeling of the Behavioral Response to Humidity and Olfactory Cues by the Vinegar Fly Drosophila melanogaster

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Jonathan Lind; [2021]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Animals are impacted by the humidity of their surrounding environment, it affects their ability of thermoregulation, water retention and their overall well-being. For small insects the effects of the surrounding humidity is even more important as they have a limited water storage which depletes faster in a drier environment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inverkan av suggans ålder och utfodring på råmjölkens mängd och sammansättning

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Anna-Karin Sellberg; [2020]
    Keywords : gris; råmjölk; sammansättning; ålder; kullnummer; utfodring;

    Abstract : Newborn piglets have small energy reserves consisting of fat and glycogen, most of which are deposited in the liver and muscle tissues and therefore not available for thermoregulation. Hence, it is of utmost importance for the piglet's survival that it receives nourishment (colostrum) from the sow as soon as possible after birth to cover the piglet’s survival needs and enable a healthy increase in body weight. 5. 5. Exercise-induced cardiac remodeling : a potential cause of pathological changes in the equine heart?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Author : Maria Neil; [2019]
    Keywords : Cardiac remodeling; equine; horse; exercise; hypoxia; valvular regurgitation; cardiac murmur; atrial fibrillation;

    Abstract : Cardiac remodeling is a response to exercise that has been reported in a number of different species. Intensified training will lead to an increasing demand on the cardiovascular capacity, because of the requirements of enhanced oxygen delivery, metabolism and thermoregulation. READ MORE
