  1. 1. Computational Cyclic Voltammetry of Supercapacitors

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Strukturkemi

    Author : Albert Pettersson; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : As the demand on electrochemical energy storage devices grows, more complex technologies are required, hence an improved knowledge on the microscopical level is needed. This can be achieved by using computational tools, in particular molecular simulations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantized Transmission in an Asymmetrically Biased Quantum Point Contact

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Teoretisk Fysik

    Author : Erik Johansson; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this project work we have studied how a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor heterostructure can be locally confined down to a narrow bottleneck constriction called a quantum point contact (QPC) and form an artificial quantum wire using a split-gate technique by application of negative bias voltages. The electron transport through the QPC and how asymmetric loading of bias voltages affects the nature of quantized conductance were studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Orbital-free Density-Functional Theory in a Finite Element Basis

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Teoretisk Fysik

    Author : Joel Davidsson; [2015]
    Keywords : Orbital-free Density Functional Theory; Finite element method; Thomas-Fermi; nuclear cusp condition;

    Abstract : In this work, we have implemented an orbital-free density functional theory (OF-DFT) solver using the finite element method. In OF-DFT, the total ground state energy is minimized directly with respect to the electron density, rather than via orbitals like in the standard Kohn-Sham approach. READ MORE
