  1. 1. Development and Evaluation of an Enzyme-Based Sunscreen

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik; Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Author : Karolina Eriksson Torfgård; [2023]
    Keywords : Enzyme activity; UV-filter; Protease; Biotechnology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Ultraviolet radiation (UVR), specifically of UVA and UVB, has been associated with the development of both photoaging and photo-carcinogenesis, potentially leading to cancer. The use of sun protection in the form of UV filters is known to minimize these damages. READ MORE

  2. 2. Targeted and non-targeted approaches to ImprUV the nutritional profile of greenhouse crops

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Hanna Forsman; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This work was made to discover if greenhouse crops, particularly broccoli and Chinese cabbage, can change their metabolism and therefore their nutritional profile depending on what ultraviolet radiation (UV) they were exposed during growth. This is important since the world’s population increases and therefore, we need to be able to produce foods with increased nutritional quality. READ MORE

  3. 3. Genetic diversity within Swedish national heritage cultivars of gooseberry, Ribes uva-crispa

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Author : Josefine Nordlander; [2021]
    Keywords : genetic diversity; heterozygosity; molecular characterization; PCoA; pomological heritage; Ribes grossularia; Ribes uva-crispa; SSR markers;

    Abstract : In the year 2000, the National program for diversity of cultivated plants (Pom) was established, aiming to recover old, Swedish fruit and berry cultivars that historically have been important for breeding and commercial production. A collection of mandate cultivars of Ribes uva-crispa (gooseberry) containing valuable accessions was created. READ MORE

  4. 4. Short wavelength UV–LED photoinitiated radical polymerization of acrylate–based coating systems—A comparison with conventional UV curing.

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Strukturkemi

    Author : Olof Torfgård; [2021]
    Keywords : UV; LED; UVC; UVB; UVA; paint; acrylate; curing; Sherwin–Williams; ATR-FTIR; spectroradiometer; photoinitiator; the mercury arc lamp;

    Abstract : The present work was performed at Sherwin–Williams Sweden group AB with the objective of comparing short-wavelength light emitting diodes (UVB/UVC) with the conventional mercury arc lamp as a curing method of acrylate-based, UV-paint undergoing free-radical polymerization when exposed to UV-radiation. Due to environmental and health risks, mercury-doped radiation sources will be phased out in the near future, according to the United Nations Minamata convention, hence new alternatives are needed.
