  1. 1. Mechanical Design, Analysis, and Manufacturing of Wind Tunnel Model and Support Structure

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Luis Alfonso Penela Guerrero; [2022]
    Keywords : Aerospace; wind tunnel testing; lightweight structures; UAV; composite materials; Flyg; vindtunneltestning; Lättkonstruktioner; UAV; kompositmaterial;

    Abstract : The use of wind tunnel models for aerodynamic research is nowadays indispensable to aviation progress in the last years as aircrafts have become more complex. Wind tunnel model design and manufacturing has adopted many different processes and materials such as the use of a five-axis CNC; making this process a relatively long and expensive one. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Conceptual Design of a Reliable Hard Docking System : Docking of an utonomous underwater vehicle to the new generation A26 submarine

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : ELIN EKSTRÖM; ELLEN SEVERINSSON; [2021]
    Keywords : Hard docking; AUV; submarine; A26; HMS Blekinge; HMS Skåne; Hårddockning; AUV; ubåt; A26; HMS Blekinge; HMS Skåne;

    Abstract : In year 2024 and 2025 the Royal Swedish Navy is expected to launch two new submarines with new possibilities to dock underwater vehicles. The submarines are part of the new Blekinge Class (A26) and will aid the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) in their aim to develop and use more autonomous systems, to increase staff efficiency and to face the technological challenges of tomorrow. 3. 3. Numerical simulations of shear reinforced concrete beams subjected to blast loads

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Anton Frank; Andreas Fristedt; [2021]
    Keywords : Numerical simulations; shear reinforcement; blast loads; dynamic shear failure; Numeriska simuleringar; tvärkraftsarmering; luftstötvåg; dynamiskt skjuvbrott;

    Abstract : Historical accidents and experimental investigations have made apparent that blast loaded concrete members are prone to fail in brittle shear rather than a ductile flexure mode. Air blasts from accidental detonations or explosives may cause severe damage to buildings and infrastructure and it is of great importance that load carrying members can withstand the impulse that arise to avoid progressive collapses. 4. 4. Mechanical Design, Analysis, and Manufacturing of Wind Tunnel Model and Support Structure

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Sara Ghika; [2021]
    Keywords : Aerospace; wind tunnel testing; lightweight structures; UAV; Mekanisk Design; Analys och Tillverkning av Vindtunnelmodell och Stödstruktur;

    Abstract : This volume covers the phases from design to manufacturing of a wind tunnel test support structure for a conceptual blended wing-body UAV designed by KTH Green Raven Project students. The innovative aircraft design demonstrates sustainability within aviation by utilizing a hybrid electric-fuel cell propulsion system. READ MORE

  5. 5. 2D Modelling of Geosynthetically Reinforced Piled Embankments : Calibration Methods in PLAXIS 2D & Review of Analytical Guidelines

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik

    Author : Maya Sleiman; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the 2D modelling of Geosyntheticaly Reinforced Piled Embankments (GRPE) in PLAXIS 2D. In doing so, it explores two main aspects: 1) the calibration of Interface Stiffness Factors (ISFs) governing the soil-pile interaction of Embedded BeamRow (EBR) elements in PLAXIS 2D, and 2) the prospects and limitations of modelling geogrids (GR) in PLAXIS 2D when underlain by EBR elements; although several studies have validates the EBR element in modelling piles, none address the geogrid-EBR interaction and its implications on modelling GRPE systems.
