  1. 6. Structural analysis of HZO thin film and electrode using X-ray diffraction

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Elliot Winsnes; [2024]
    Keywords : HZO; hafnia; hafnium dioxide; zirconium dioxide; ferroelectricity; ferroelectric; synchrotron radiation; X-ray diffraction; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Since its discovery in 2011, the ferroelectricity of thin films based on HfO2 has been studied intensively. In particular, thin films with a 1:1 ratio of HfO2 and ZrO2 (HZO) has been of great interest. The ferroelectricity arises from a non-centrosymmetric orthorhombic (o) phase of HZO whose prevalence is dependent on the processing conditions. READ MORE

  2. 7. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Johan Holmberg; [2024]
    Keywords : Free Electron Lasers; FEL; synchrotron radiation; MAX IV; FemtoMAX; GENESIS 1.3; XFEL; X-rays; soft X-rays; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 3. 8. Uranium nitride synthesis by gas/gas reaction of UF6 and NH3

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Serena Ambrosino; [2024]
    Keywords : Uranium nitride; synthesis; ammonolysis; uranium hexafluoride; uranium tetrafluoride; ammonia; X-ray diffraction; microscopy; Urannitrid; syntes; ammonolys; uranhexafluorid; urantetrafluorid; ammoniak; röntgendiffraktion; mikroskopi;

    Abstract : This thesis project aims to develop an innovative technique for the production of high-purity uranium nitride (UN) through the ammonolysis of fluorides. The desired objective is to perform a controlled gas/gas reaction between uranium hexafluoride (UF6) and ammonia (NH3) at 800°C. READ MORE

  4. 9. The active phase of Pt(110) during catalytic CO oxidation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Hira Qazilbash; [2024]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : CO oxidation is an important topic in heterogeneous catalysis, due to its role in industrial processes such as pollution reduction in the auto industry, and ethanol or other fuel production. In the automotive catalytic converters CO oxidation reduces the poisonous CO to CO2 by reacting with O2. READ MORE

  5. 10. If Trees Could Talk - Dendrochemistry, a Promising Method for Understanding Pollution History

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Jonatan Uusitalo; [2023-08-17]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Heavy metal pollution presents a significant environmental challenge in the Anthropocene era, and understanding pollution history is crucial to address historical pollution and implementing effective mitigation measures. This study stands among a few comprehensive dendrochemical investigations that utilized an extensive dataset and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) technique to reconstruct the contamination history of As, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn, with a focus on Cu.
