  1. 1. Study on Decolorization of Reactive-dyed Cotton through Fenton-oxidation as a Pre-treatment for Textile Recycling

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Elise Meurs; [2023]
    Keywords : Fenton-oxidation; advanced oxidation processes; decolorization; textile recycling; cotton; reactive dye;

    Abstract : In this master thesis, the feasibility of Fenton-oxidation for the decolorization of reactive dyed cotton is investigated as a potentially environmental-friendly preparatory treatment for mechanical/chemical recycling. Raw, knitted cotton is dyed with a black and a blue dye, whereafter preliminary tests are performed to investigate the influence of increasing Fenton- solution concentrations and different iron-sources on the efficiency of the discoloration, without carrying out complete optimization of the process-parameters. 2. 2. The possibilities of recycling wash water at Vidinge

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Julia Mauritzson; [2020]
    Keywords : reuse; treatment; fresh-cut; water engineering; environmental engineering; avloppsteknik; vattenförsörjningsteknik; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Water is a resource of importance and with drier weather around the world, including Swe-den, there is a risk of too low levels of water to satisfy for instance households, animals and industries in the future. Fresh-cut fruit and vegetable industries are water intense and almost all process water is used in the washing process. READ MORE

  3. 3. Removal of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances from water using the BDD electrode

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Winnie Nassazzi; [2018]
    Keywords : PFAS; drinking water; advanced oxidation processes; membrane reject water; electrochemical treatment; BDD electrode;

    Abstract : Poly-and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have been used for a wide range of purposes due to their unique properties. Unfortunately, these compounds have been associated with several adverse health effects and high persistence in the environment, therefore, creating a need for their elimination from the environment. 4. 4. Removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances from drinking water using ozonation

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Miriam Dorothea Schäfers; [2017]
    Keywords : PFAS; drinking water; ozonation;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a broad group of man-made chemicals which are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic. Due to their unique physicochemical properties PFASs are used in various industrial processes and consumer products. READ MORE

  5. 5. Oxidation of Graphite and Metallurgical Coke : A Numerical Study with an Experimental Approach

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Yousef Ahmad; [2016]
    Keywords : Graphite oxidation rate; CFD; Dynamic coupling; Fluent; TGA;

    Abstract : At the royal institute of technology (KTH) in the department of applied process metallurgy, a novel modelling approach has been developed which allows a dynamic coupling between the commercial thermodynamic software Thermo-Calc and the commercial computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software Ansys Fluent, only referred to as Fluent in the study. The dynamic coupling approach is used to provide numerical CFD-models with thermodynamic data for the thermo-physical properties and for the fluid-fluid chemical reactions occurring in metallurgical processes.
