  1. 1. Electronic states in semiconductor double quantum dots and quantum rings - Theory and tight-binding modeling

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Calle Stenberg; [2021]
    Keywords : double quantum dots quantum rings tight-binding aharonov-bohm g-factor enhancement InAs; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In recent experiments on semiconductor nanowires and quantum dots, enhanced g-factors up to several times the bulk value have been measured [1] [2]. The enhancement is attributed to orbital contributions g∗orb to the effective g-factor g∗ = g∗spin+g∗orb from the coupling of the high angular momentum ring-like states to the magnetic field. 2. 2. Geometric Phases in Classical and Quantum Systems

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Simon Godskesen; [2019]
    Keywords : Berry s phase; geometric phase;

    Abstract : We are accustomed to think the phase of single particle states does not matter. After all, the phase cancels out when calculating physical observables. However, the geometric phase can cause interference even in single particle states and can be measured. READ MORE

  3. 3. Path Integrals and Quantum Mechanics

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Martin Sandström; [2015]
    Keywords : quantum; path integral; aharonov-bohm;

    Abstract : In this thesis we are investigating a different formalism of non-relativistic quantum mechanics called the path integral formalism. It is a generalization of the classical least action principle. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electron transport in quantum point contacts : A theoretical study

    University essay from Institutionen för datavetenskap, fysik och matematik, DFM

    Author : Alexander Gustafsson; [2011]
    Keywords : quantum point contact; mesoscopic physics; 2DEG; quantized conductance; Aharonov-Bohm; magnetoconductance; recursive Green s function; quantum Hall effect;

    Abstract : Electron transport in mesoscopic systems, such as quantum point contacts and Aharonov-Bohm rings are investigated numerically in a tight-binding language with a recursive Green's function algorithm. The simulation reveals among other things the quantized nature of the conductance in point contacts, the Hall conductance, the decreasing sensitivity to scattering impurities in a magnetic field, and the periodic magnetoconductance in an Aharonov-Bohm ring.
