  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Pseudomonas aeruginosa gene expression analysis using pangenome and PAO1 reference genomes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i bioinformatik

    Author : Yi Su; [2023]
    Keywords : Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Development in sequencing technologies has made the analyses of genetic material much more accessible. Processing sequenced data for an accurate analysis comes with its challenges, especially with the studies in microbial in clinical in vivo samples where difficulties in the collection of these samples for sequencing could lower the quality and contamination from the human host which might affect the accuracy of downstream analysis. 3. 3. Low-concentration Bacteria Separation from Whole Blood through a Slanted Filter in a Centrifuge Tube

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Kaiyang Zeng; [2023]
    Keywords : sepsis; bloodstream infection; bacteria; blood; separation; centrifuge; sedimentation; filter; falcon tube; sepsis; blodsmittsamhet; bakterier; blod; separation; centrifugering; sedimentering; filter; falcon-rör;

    Abstract : Sepsis characterized by severe bloodstream bacterial infection that results in high mortality rates and medical expenses has become a global healthcare challenge. The current clinical sepsis diagnosis is based on blood culture and requires a long waiting time, delaying effective treatments. READ MORE

  4. 4. Temperaturens inverkan på tillväxt av olika mikroorganismer på frysta livsmedel

    University essay from SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Author : Almohannad Alahmad; [2022]
    Keywords : Frysning; ; förskämning; hållbarhet; mikroorganism; upptining;

    Abstract : Metoder för att bevara mat har varit en viktig aspekt för att säkra livsmedelsförsörjningen genom historien. Frysning och andra konserveringsmetoder har använts med framgång under årens lopp för att förlänga livsmedels hållbarhetstid, men det finns ibland mikroorganismer på livsmedel som kan växa till mängder som kan leda till sjukdom och utgöra problem för individers hälsa, eller så kan de förskämma livsmedel. 5. 5. The Effect of Residual Bacterial Products Associated to Root Canal Infection on Stem Cells from the Apical Papilla: Understanding Basis on Regenerative Endodontic Treatment

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Tandläkarutbildning

    Author : Alhussan Sora; Abla Afnan; [2022]
    Keywords : SCAP; RTCA; regenerative endodontic; Inactivated bacteria;

    Abstract : Background: The regenerative function of stem cells from the apical papilla (SCAPs) is affected by the presence of bacteria from infected root canals. Living microorganisms influence SCAP function but the effect of inactive bacteria and its components on SCAPs needs further investigation. READ MORE
