  1. 1. Reactor Chemistry in LWR SMRs : Determination of the rate constant for the reaction between boric acid and hydroxyl radicals

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysikalisk kemi

    Author : Fredrik Petersson; [2023]
    Keywords : LWR; SMR; Water chemistry; Radiolysis; Boric acid; LWR; SMR; vattenkemi; Radiolys; Borsyra; Hydroxylradikal;

    Abstract : Ett problem vid byggandet av nya kärnkraftverk för elproduktion är de stora investeringskostnaderna samt den långa tiden det att få tillstånd för en reaktor och bygga den. Nyligen färdigställdes den tredje reaktorn vid Olkiluoto I Finland, den tog 18 år att färdigställa exklusive tiden att få tillstånd för reaktorn. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effect of various rate promoters on the absorption rate of carbon dioxide in potassium carbonate solvents

    University essay from KTH/Kemiteknik

    Author : Aishwarya Babu; [2022]
    Keywords : Bioenergy carbon capture and storage; BECCS; carbon removal; post-combustion carbon capture; monoethanolamine; MEA; hot potash process; K2CO3; Koldioxidavskiljning och lagring; bioenergi; rökgasavskilljning; monoetanolamin; MEA; hot potash process; K2CO3;

    Abstract : Det ständigt växande behovet av att minska CO2-utsläpp har lett till en ökad tonvikt på teknik för avskiljning av koldioxid från rökgas. MEA (monoetanolamin) anses vara riktmärket för lösningsmedel för att fånga in koldioxid på grund av dess höga absorptionshastighet. READ MORE

  3. 3. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) adhesives reinforced by microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) – adhesive properties and reinforcement mechanisms

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Daniela Wloch; [2019]
    Keywords : PVA adhesive; boric acid; MFC; cross-linkers; aluminum sulfate; initial wet tack;

    Abstract : The aim of the project was to investigate a green and sustainable replacement for boric acid in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) adhesives for solid paperboard production. Boric acid acts as a cross-linker and tackifier in the adhesive but is classified as a harmful substance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Boric acid as a lubricating additive in fuels and in hydraulic oils

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Author : Simon Ström; [2018]
    Keywords : Boric acid; tribology; lubricant; fuel; hydraulic oil; additive;

    Abstract : Boric acid based fuel and oil additives were investigated in this study, with the aims to gain a deeper understanding of how the boric acid fuel additive behaves, to investigate the effect of low rates of fuel additive addition and tribofilm longevity, and to investigate how boric acid behaves as a hydraulic oil additive. Fuel additive experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a cylinder on flat contact geometry with fuel additive sprayed on the contact repeatedly, whereas the hydraulic oil experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a ball on flat contact with the oil and additive present from the start. 5. 5. Electrochemical etching and anodizing as key stages of surface treatment of aluminium foil for electrolytic capacitor industry : Application of Electro Chemical Impedance Spectroscopy as non-destructive characterization of etched anode foil with an anodized dielectric oxide layer

    University essay from Högskolan i Jönköping/JTH, Produktutveckling; Högskolan i Jönköping/JTH, Material och tillverkning

    Author : Harish Appusamy Boopathy; Pavan Kumar Bonthala; [2017]
    Keywords : Surface treatment of aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitor; Anodic oxide forming process; Electro chemical etching; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy EIS ; Capacitance measurement;

    Abstract : In the initial stage, the sample preparation was done by using the techniques of Anodic etching and anodic forming processes where a repeated trial and error method of sample preparation headed towards making out a suitable sample set for characterization. After this step, the set of 2 different industrial samples were introduced and anodic oxide forming process was carried out in different electrolytes. READ MORE
