  1. 1. Optimization of Solid-State Fermentation process for brown seaweed using LAB and characterization of the products

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Author : Sweta Singh; [2024]
    Keywords : lactic acid bacteria; solid-state fermentation; Alaria esculenta; Saccharina latissima; seaweed fermentation; biotechnology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Fermentation has played a vital role in human history, offering solutions for food preservation, culinary diversity, and the creation of diverse and flavorful foods and beverages. Its importance continues today, both in traditional practices and in modern industrial applications. READ MORE

  2. 2. Using artificial intelligence to improvetime estimation for project management

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Signaler och system

    Author : Marcus Bonnedahl; [2024]
    Keywords : time estimation; ai; machine learning; project management;

    Abstract : Time estimation is an important aspect in project management. Failure to make accurateestimates can lead to large consequences. Despite this, humans tend to make fairly inaccurateestimates when tasked to, often underestimating the time something will take substantially. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Atabak Fathe Jalali; [2024]
    Keywords : Theoretical physics; astrophysics; modified gravity; minimally modified gravity; gravitational collapse; VCDM; scalar collapse; apparent horizon; numerical relativity; Teoretisk fysik; astrofysik; modifierad gravitation; minimalt modifierad gravitation; gravitationskollaps; VCDM; skalär kollaps; uppenbar horisont; numerisk relativitet;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tribological characterization of a ball bearing subjected to an electric field : Electric drivetrain tribology

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Muhammad Umar Farooq; [2023]
    Keywords : Ball bearing; electric drivetrain; tribology; electric field; characterization; bearing currents; discharge;

    Abstract : Electric machines are widely used in for instance the automotive industry in electric vehicles and in wind turbines. The electrical machines have mechanical bearings as an integral part used to transmit power and load. In addition, the main function includes reducing friction between interacting surfaces. 5. 5. Optimization of alloys recovery in steel scrap sorting : Technological, economic and environmental considerations for a better chromium, nickel and molybdenum recovery in steel scrap

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Simone Quintè; [2023]
    Keywords : Steel scrap sorting; stainless steel; Chromium; Nickel; Molybdenum; alloys recovery; Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy; revenue modeling; CO2 emissions modeling; Stålskrot Sortering; rostfritt stål; Krom; Nickel; Molybden; återvinning av legeringar; Laserinducerad nedbrytningsspektroskopi; intäktsmodellering; Modellering av CO2-utsläpp;

    Abstract : Today’s steelmaking industry is highly dependent on steel scrap supply. In order to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) deriving from the steel industry, it is of utmost importance to ensure that high percentages of steel scrap are recycled, reducing the reliance on the traditional ore-based steelmaking, which is significantly more environmentally impactful.
