  1. 1. Evaluating Sugar Signaling during Xylose Oxidation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Author : Viktor Persson; [2020]
    Keywords : Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yeast; xylose oxidation; sugar signaling; biosensor; applied microbiology; teknisk mikrobiologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The sugar signaling state of cells oxidizing xylose was investigated through the chromosomal integration of the Weimberg pathway into previously established biosensor strains capable of monitoring the Snf3p/Rgt2p, SNF1/Mig1p, and cAMP/PKA pathways through the expression of HXT1, SUC2, and TPS1, respectively. Ultimately, two new strains were successfully developed containing both the Weimberg pathway and a biosensor for either HXT1 (TMB CB 112) or TPS1 (TMB CB 117). READ MORE

  2. 2. Development and Validation of Yeast Biosensors for Signaling Pathways

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi; Lunds universitet/Bioteknik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Felipe Gonzalo Tueros Farfan; [2016]
    Keywords : Xylose; yeast; signaling; Snf3 Rgt2; Snf1 Mig1; cAMP PKA; flow cytometry; high-throughput; GFP; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Efficient bioconversion of the pentose xylose is vital for the development of competent lignocellulose biorefineries. Although many proper attempts of metabolic engineering for recombinant xylose utilization have been made in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, growth on xylose is still far from being optimal. READ MORE

  3. 3. 1,25(OH)2D3 and Prostate Cancer : The Effects on cAMP/PKA-dependent Gene Expression in LnCaP cells

    University essay from Institutionen för vård och natur

    Author : Niklas Bergsten; [2010]
    Keywords : prostate cancer; vitamin D; Vitamin D3; cAMP; PKA;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer is the leading male cancer form i Sweden and maybe worldwide as well. Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin following the exposure to sunlight. Researcers have long been aware of the positive effect that vitamin D3 has on prostate tumour growth. READ MORE
