  1. 6. Patterned Nanocomposite of Carbon Nanotube/Polymer

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Saeed Motaragheb Jafarpour; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are carbon based nanostructures with extraordinary electronical and mechanical properties. They are used in a wide range of applications, usually embedded in polymer as fillers to form polymer based nanocomposites, in order to affect the electronic behavior of the polymer matrix. 2. 7. Carbon Nanotube Raman Spectra Calculations using Density Functional Theory

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Johan Jirlén; Emil Kauppi; [2017]
    Keywords : Density Functional Theory; DFT; Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes; SWCNTs; Raman; Spectra; VASP;

    Abstract : Utilizing density functional theory (DFT) the Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package (VASP) was used to calculate the Raman spectra for five single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with chiralities (4,4), (6,6), (8,0), (12,0) and (7,1). The radial breathing mode (RBM), when compared with experimental frequencies, shows good correlation. READ MORE

  3. 8. Thermal Stability of Carbon Nanotubes and Role of Intercalation

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Anton Landström; [2016]
    Keywords : Carbon nanotubes; raman; cnt; thermal; nanomaterials; spectroscopy; heating; stability;

    Abstract : Research in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has become a very active field in the past decades, with much interest in their electronic and mechanical properties. However, the thermal properties of CNTs are still not well understood, in particular the process of annealing; i.e. purification of samples by desorption of internal and external impurities. 4. 9. Fabrication of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) active substrates based on vertically aligned nitrogen doped carbon nanotube forest

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Md Khorshed Alam; [2015]
    Keywords : Photolithography; Physical Vapor Deposition; Chemical Vapor Deposition; Annealing; Scanning Electron Microscopy; Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy;

    Abstract : This thesis work describes the fabrication and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) characterization of vertically aligned nitrogen (N) doped multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) forests coated by silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles. In the present work, the CNT forests were grown from a catalyst metal layer by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at temperature of 800 oC and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) and annealing processes were applied subsequently for the evaporation and diffusion of noble metal nanoparticles on the forest. 5. 10. Textile Actuator Fibres : Investigation in materials and methods for coiled polymer fibre muscles

    University essay from Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Rebecca Melvinsson; [2015]
    Keywords : Textile actuators; Soft robots; Coiled muscles; PVDF; SMP; Fibre Anisotropy; Thermal actuation; α-relaxation;

    Abstract : This thesis contains an investigation in materials and methods for coiled polymer muscles where the end application in mind is to be integrated in a textile structure such as an exo-skeleton glove. Previous artificial muscle fibres have proved little success due to performance, cost and scalability. READ MORE
