  1. 1. Accelerating Techniques for Whisky Maturation : Effect of heat, iron and light on the maturation process

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Cihao Chen; [2022]
    Keywords : Food technology; whisky; oak; phenolic compounds; HPLC-DAD; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The maturation of whisky is a long and complex process, the extremely long waiting time causes a large cost for new whisky distilleries, and without sufficient funding, it is hard to start a whisky business. To produce satisfying whisky products within the short term, accelerating the reaction during aging provides a promising approach. READ MORE

  2. 2. Iron-catalyzed graphitization of biochar to produce graphitic carbon materials

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Ziyi Shi; [2021]
    Keywords : graphite; biochar; catalyst; catalytic graphitization; grafit; biokol; katalysator; katalytisk grafitisering;

    Abstract : Demand for high-quality graphite is expected to experience an extraordinary growth rate, in large part due to its wide range of industrial applications such as adsorbents, lubricants, electrodes, etc. This thesis developed a novel sustainable approach to produce green-graphite materials by applying biochar, acarbon-rich valuable by-product obtained from biomass, as a carbon precursor. 3. 3. Modelling the Production of Biofuels via Olefins Oligomerisation

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Nima Mirzaei; [2020]
    Keywords : Biofuels; Mathematical Modelling; Process Simulation; Oligomerisation; Fischer-Tropsch; Biobränslen; Matematisk Modellering; Process Simulering; Oligomerisering; Fischer-Tropsch;

    Abstract : The technical feasibility of gasoline and diesel range hydrocarbons production through oligomerisation of olefins, starting from biomass with the intermediary steps of gasfication, water-gas shift reaction and syngas-to-olefins synthesis was investigated, through mathematical modelling and simulation on Matlab. The model for the gasifier was based on minimisation of Gibbs free energy and its results showed that higher carbon efficiencies could be achieved at lower pressures and steam inlet, and more inlet energy, by pre-heating the gasifying agents. 4. 4. Exhaust Temperature Modeling and Optimal Control of Catalytic Converter Heating

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Fordonssystem

    Author : Victor Petersson; [2019]
    Keywords : cold-start; catalyst heating; ignition retardation; GDI;

    Abstract : After reaching its light-off temperature, the catalytic aftertreatment system plays a major part in maintaining emissions at low levels for vehicles equipped with combustion engines. In this thesis, modelling of the exhaust gas temperature is investigated along with optimal control strategy for variable ignition and exhaust valve opening angles for optimal catalytic converter heating. 5. 5. Influence of bio-coal ash respectively coal structure on coke production and coke quality

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Industriell miljö- och processteknik

    Author : Frida Bäck; [2019]
    Keywords : Bio-coke; bio-coal; leaching; coke quality; carbon structures; torrefied sawdust;

    Abstract : In recent years, the consequences of global warming have increased the discussion about the climate impact caused by humans and the fossil emissions. Sweden has decided to reduce the negative climate impact with a zero vision for the fossil carbon dioxide emissions in year 2045. READ MORE
