  2. 2. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 3. 3. Simulation of Colorless Distributed Combustion

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Hampus Olsson; [2019]
    Keywords : Computational Fluid Dynamics; Combustion; Gas Turbine; Emission reduction; Flameless Combustion; Colorless Distributed Combustion; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Colorless distributed combustion (CDC) is a promising novel technology to reduce emissions of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in gas turbine combustors. CDC features a different flame regime than conventional gas turbine combustors, associated with a distributed reaction zone and low and uniform temperatures due to dilution of combustion air with exhaust gases. Abstract : A seventy five percent increase in cancer incidence within 10 years is one of the major human health issues based on the World Health Or-ganization (WHO) evaluation. Prevention of cancer through health screening was suggested by the WHO as a means of early detection of cancer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Utvärdering av jämviktsdialys för analys av fritt T4 hos hund

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Author : Nina Akiliina Pyykkönen; [2019]
    Keywords : Fritt T4; hypotyreoidism; jämviktsdialys; totalt T4;

    Abstract : Hypotyreoidism är en av de vanligaste endokrina sjukdomarna som drabbar hundar. Studier har visat att 0,2 – 0,8 % av hundpopulationen drabbas av sjukdomen. Då tyroideahormonerna har en inverkan på flera av kroppens organsystem gör det att symtomen är många och varierade. READ MORE
