  1. 1. Three-dimensional modelling of the Källfallsgruvan iron oxide deposit, Riddarhyttan ore field, Bergslagen, Sweden: Integrating existing and new data to aid understanding of structural controls and mineral exploration

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Edna Spahic; [2021]
    Keywords : Three-dimensional modelling; Mineral exploration; Bergslagen; Riddarhyttan ore field; Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit;

    Abstract : The Bergslagen ore province, located in the Fennoscandian shield in the south-central part of Sweden hosts several metallic mineral deposits, one of them being the Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit in the Riddarhyttan ore field, situated in a high-strain shear belt denoted as the West Bergslagen Boundary Zone (WBBZ).  An accurate 3D geological model of the Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit has been generated to aid understanding of the ore body geometries and calculating volume and tonnage. 2. 2. Hydrothermal alteration and lithogeochemical marker units at the Svärdsjö Zn-Pb-Cu deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden, and their implications for exploration

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Author : Anton Fahlvik; [2018]
    Keywords : Hydrothermal alteration; Lithogeochemistry; Exploration; Bergslagen; Svärdsjö;

    Abstract : In exploration, a lithogeochemical approach can be used to aid the characterisation of rocks surrounding metamorphosed and hydrothermally altered deposits. Accurate description of the geological setting of deposits is crucial for understanding the ore forming processes and identifying targets for exploration. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Säm fold structure : characterization of folding and metamorphism in a part of the eclogite–granulite region, Sveconorwegian orogen

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Stephen Michalchuk; [2013]
    Keywords : anatexis; high-T granulite; interference folds; polydeformation; Sveconorwegian orogen; SW Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Structural and petrological studies on complexly folded mafic and felsic layered sequences have been mapped in the parautochthonous basement of the Sveconorwegian Province, Sweden. Three deformation phases (D1, D2, D3)involving at least two fold phases (F2, F3) and two lineation phases (L2, L3) characterize a polyphase fold, which is primarily defined by a migmatized and highly competent garnet amphibolite. 4. 4. P-T evolution of paragneisses and amphibolites from Romeleåsen, Scania, southernmost Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Jan Ulmius; [2013]
    Keywords : Romeleåsen; metamorphism; geothermobarometry; pseudosection; Theriak-Domino; P-T path; Hallandian Danopolonian; Sveconorwegian Romeleåsen; metamorfism; geotermobarometri; pseudosektion; P-T-utveckling; halandisk danopolonisk; svekonorvegisk; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Populärvetenskaplig sammanfattning Vad har berget i Romeleåsen varit med om? Jordskorpan är uppbyggd av ett antal plattor. Vid plattgränser under oceanerna bildas ny skorpa av magma som tränger upp. Oceanplattan kan inte öka i storlek. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sulfide Mineralogy in the Ballachulish contact metamorphic Aureole

    University essay from Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Ossian Åström; [2012]
    Keywords : Sulfide; mineralogy; Ballachulish; contact; metamorphic; aureole; pyrite; pyrrhotite; recrystallization; cordierite;

    Abstract : 16 samples of increasing metamorphic grade from the Ballachulish Igneous Complex and Aureole, located in the west of Scotland, were studied in order to analyze the sulfide mineralogy and to what extent they were affected by contact metamorphism. The samples were collected from two lithologies, the Creran Succession and the Ballachulish Slate lithology, as well as from the igneous complex. READ MORE
