  1. 1. Geometry studies of high energy 16O collisions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Aliaksei Kuzmenka; [2022]
    Keywords : Ion Collisions; Oxygen; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project a model of oxygen, 16O, nuclei, where the nucleons are organised in α-clusters, was implemented in the Pythia Monte Carlo event generator. To study the effects of the new model, some observables, such as the distribution of the number of the wounded nucleons, charged particle multiplicity in the forward and central pseudorapidity region, and the pseudorapidity distribution for different centrality bins and eccentricity, are compared to the model originally implemented in Pythia (Woods-Saxon). 2. 2. Cosmological probes of the early universe with Axions & Gravitational Waves

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Nicklas Ramberg; [2019]
    Keywords : axions; early universe; dark matter; gravitational waves; modified cosmology; cosmic strings; axion; tidigt universum; mörk materia; gravitationsvågor; modifierad kosmologi; kosmiska strängar;

    Abstract : This thesis uses theoretical studies, and numerical simulations to provide results of the experimental reach to detect the QCD axion as dark matter in a Non-standard cosmological background. Assuming that the QCD axion constitutes the full CDM abundance of the universe, this thesis elaborates on its potential detection from experimental setups for the mass window of the axion. READ MORE

  3. 3. Closed Timelike Curves in Exact Solutions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Timea Vitos; [2017]
    Keywords : closed timelike curves; time travel; Gödel-type universe; cosmic strings; quantum mechanics and closed timelike curves;

    Abstract : This project aims to study general relativity to the extent to understand the occurrence and behaviors of closed timelike curves (CTCs) in several exact solutions of Einstein’s field equations. The rotating black hole solution, the Gödel universe and the cosmic string solutions are studied in detail to show how CTCs arise in these spacetimes. READ MORE
