  1. 1. Development of a guide system for free neutron oscillation searches at the European Spallation Source

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Lunds Tekniska Högskola; Lunds universitet/European Spallation Source ESS AB

    Author : Linnéa Björk; [2023]
    Keywords : ESS; neutrons; dark matter; antimatter; neutron guides; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project, a neutron delivery system for the study of free neutron oscillations at the HIBEAM beamline at the European Spallation Source (ESS) has been developed. The HIBEAM experiment is part of a two-stage program at ESS which will address open questions in physics; specifically the nature of dark matter and the observed asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the Universe. 2. 2. Pulse Amplitude Reconstruction in the LDMX Hadronic Calorimeter Readout

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Aksel Draguanov Mihaylov; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The universe shows signs of containing some invisible matter, known as dark matter. There are many possible constituents for dark matter, one such being light dark matter which would interact with ordinary matter through a new mediator force and have masses in the range of a few MeV to GeV. 3. 3. Warm dark matter simulations and 21cm astronomy

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Melker Marminge; [2023]
    Keywords : Warm Dark Matter; N-body Simulation; Power Spectrum; Neutral Hydrogen; Cosmology;

    Abstract : The recent boom in 21cm astronomy has piqued the interest of many, especially cosmologists realizing its applications in their field. This study aims to determine if 21cm astronomy is a good tool for testing the validity of keV WDM models, as well as creating a code capable of simulating keV WDM models from an existing CDM code. 4. 4. Defining dark jets at the particle level

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Gustav Lindberg; [2023]
    Keywords : Particle physics; Dark matter; QCD; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : One hypothesis that attempts to explain dark matter is dark QCD, which suggests that there would be a dark sector made up of dark quarks. Dark quarks would interact with each other through dark QCD similar to how Standard Model quarks interact with each other through Standard Model QCD. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cosmological Constraints for a Varying Dark Energy Model

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Abdullah Alsakka; [2023]
    Keywords : Astronomy; Varying Dark Energy; Distances;

    Abstract : This paper uses the Pantheon+ data set that consists of 1701 light curves of 1550 unique type IaSupernova to find constraints on various cosmological models and compare them with a varying darkenergy model proposed by Chevallier, Polarski and Linder in the early 2000s and analyze it deeper.The results show a tipping point from a decelerating universe to an accelerating one at a redshift ofz = 0.
