  1. 1. Deep learning for nanofluidic scattering microscopy

    University essay from

    Author : Gustaf Sjösten; [2021-06-09T11:22:05Z 2021-06-09T11:22:05Z 2021 2020]
    Keywords : data analysis; machine learning; deep convolutional neural networks; nanofluidic scattering spectroscopy; biomolecules; physical chemistry; dark-field microscopy;

    Abstract : A novel technique for label-free, real-time characterization of single biomolecules called Nanofluidic Scatter Microscopy (NSM) has recently been developed by a the Langhammer research group at Chalmers. We have created a machine learning (ML) framework consisting of deep convolutional neural networks such as U-nets, FCNNs, and YOLO in order to characterize single biomolecules through kymographs collected through NSM, as an alternative approach to a standard data analysis method (SA). 2. 2. Optical Characterization of Lignin Nanoparticles

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Kristoffer Linder; [2020]
    Keywords : lignin; nanoparticles; nanoparticle; optical characterization; optical properties; surface plasmon resonance;

    Abstract : Lignin is one of the main components of wood and plants that acts as a kind of glue providing mechanical strength. It is a main polymer component composed from three phenolic structures, i.e. p-hydroxyphenyl (H), guaiacyl (G) and syringyl (S) units. READ MORE

  3. 3. Chemical Vapor Deposition Growth and Density Functional Theory Calculations of Trilayer Graphene

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Mohamed Atwa; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Density functional theory was employed to investigate the energetics of ABA, ABC, and intermediary stacked phases for both pristine and s-triazine functionalized graphene trilayers. The energy of the ABC-stacked phase relative to the pristine ABA-stacked ground state showed a 94% increase when s-triazine was adsorbed to the graphene surface, confirming previous studies of the ability of s-triazine to facilitate the ABC to ABA phase-transition. 4. 4. Characterization of Supported Catalytic Metallic Nanoparticles using Transmission Electron Microscopy

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Axel Persson; [2015]
    Keywords : materials chemistry; materialkemi; metallic nanoparticles; transmission electron microscopy; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In this project catalysts have been analyzed, in the sense of size and composition, using a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). This important class of substances are used to facilitate chemical reactions, in everything from specific molecular research to conversion car emissions which explains the importance of research. 5. 5. Kilohertz electro-optics for remote sensing of insect dispersal

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Sandra Török; [2013]
    Keywords : LUMBO; remote sensing; dark-field spectroscopy; insect wingbeat modulation; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the possibilities of determining the flight direction of insects by analysing the wingbeat modulation pattern of the backscattered sunlight from insects. The Lund University Mobile Biosphere Observatory (LUMBO) was used during the summer of 2013 for a field campaign at two locations in Skåne, Sweden. READ MORE
