1. 6. A dendroclimatic study at Store Mosse, South Sweden : climatic and hydrologic impacts on recent Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) growth dynamics

University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

Author : Anton Hansson; [2013]
Keywords : klimat; dendrochronology; bog; climate; water table changes; Store Mosse; torvmosse; dendrokronologi; vattenståndsförändringar; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

READ MORE

3. 8. Oak (Quercus robur L.) mortality in south-eastern Sweden: influence of weather and environmental variables

University essay from Ekologi

Author : Marie Andersson; [2009]
Keywords : Dendrochronology; extreme weather; growth depression; growth pattern; insect defoliation; oak decline; oak mortality; pointer year; tree-ring;

Abstract : The complex interplay between biotic and abiotic factors, believed to be responsible for several oak declines in European oak stands during the last three decades, remains poorly understood. Hence, this study aims at clarifying the temporal process of oak declines, as well as identifying individual tree and environmental variables that increase the risk of oak mortality. READ MORE

4. 9. A high resolution analysis of macroscopic charcoal deposited in peat

University essay from SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

Author : David Ventorp; [2007]
Keywords : macrocharcoal; sieving; dendrochronology; peat; forest firest; in-situ; ex-situ;

Abstract : The amount of macroscopic charcoal in the top 25 cm of three cores from a peat land in Hornsö Ecopark, south-eastern Sweden, was compared to the dendrochronology inferred fire history of the site. Because of the occurrence of a recent fire ex-situ (1999) and one fire ¬in-situ inferred by three fire scared Scots pines, Pinus sylvestris, adjacent (5-10 m) to the peat cores, the site provided an excellent opportunity to compare the abundance of charcoal deposited in a peat land after fires in-situ and ex-situ. 5. 10. Till synes orörd skog : naturvärden och kulturhistoria i Rekdalen under 400 år

University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

Author : Kristoffer Sivertsson; [2005]
Keywords : kulturspår i träd; skogshistoria; kulturlandskap; markanvändningshistoria; västra Jämtland;

Abstract : Nature conservation has for a long time been founded on the assumption that high ecological values depend on low human impact. In Sweden this has led to forests with these characteristics being strictly protected from human influences. However, it is also known that historical land-use can enhance ecological values in forests. READ MORE
