  1. 1. Study of surfactant-preservative and protein-preservative interactions in multi-dose injectable formulation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Javier Lagares Martín; [2023]
    Keywords : Phenol; polysorbate 80; cloud point; somatropin; aggregation; titration; light scattering; salt; surfactant; preservative; protein; tonicity adjusting agents; multi-dose injectable formulation; pharmaceutical technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Multidose injectable formulations require a preservative such as phenol to ensure sterility and protection against microbial contamination during clinical use. However, it is known that the interaction between these components and non-ionic surfactants such as polysorbate 80, also found in this type of formulations, present incompatibilities, which can lead to decreases in the efficacy of the product. 2. 2. Investigation of drug-induced cell cycle responses in high-risk neuroblastoma

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Maryam Sahi; [2020]
    Keywords : Neuroblastoma; chemotherapy resistance; cell cycle arrest; cisplatin; doxorubicin; ATM; Chk1; Wee1; Neuroblastom; kemoterapiresistans; cellcykelarrest; cisplatin; doxorubicin; ATM; Chk1; Wee1;

    Abstract : The childhood cancer neuroblastoma mostly affects children under the age of 2 and comprises 6% of all childhood cancers. Neuroblastoma has very diverse phenotypes caused by both inter- and intra-tumour heterogeneities. The phenotypes are classified as being either low- or high-risk. READ MORE

  3. 3. In vitro studies of Thiopurine S-Methyltransferase: Ligand binding interactions and development of a new enzymatic activity assay for TPMTwt, TPMT*6 and TPMT*8

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Lovisa Hemmingsson; Johan Klasén; [2015]
    Keywords : Thiopurine S-Methyltransferase; 6-mercaptourine; methotrexate; isothermal titration calorimetry; fluorescence spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, one of the most malignant cancer forms in children is commonly treated with the thiopurine 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) in combination with a high dose of methotrexate (MTX). 6-Mercaptopurine is in the body metabolized by the enzyme thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT). 4. 4. A fuzzy logic controller for intestinal levodopa infusion in Parkinson’s disease

    University essay from Datateknik

    Author : Xiaowen Jiang; [2010]
    Keywords : Parkinson Disease; fuzzy controller; pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic model; levodopa; infusion; dose titration;

    Abstract : The aim of this work is to evaluate the fuzzy system for different types of patients for levodopa infusion in Parkinson Disease based on simulation experiments using the pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic model. Fuzzy system is to control patient’s condition by adjusting the value of flow rate, and it must be effective on three types of patients, there are three different types of patients, including sensitive, typical and tolerant patient; the sensitive patients are very sensitive to drug dosage, but the tolerant patients are resistant to drug dose, so it is important for controller to deal with dose increment and decrement to adapt different types of patients, such as sensitive and tolerant patients. 5. 5. Optimised dose titration for Duodopatreatment based on simulation experiments– implementation in a decision supportsystem

    University essay from Datateknik

    Author : Canghai CHen; [2009]
    Keywords : Parkinson disease; Simulation experiments; Optimize rules; data analysis; decision systemm;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to design a set of rules for levodopa infusion dose adjustment in Parkinson’s disease based on a simulation experiments. Using this simulator, optimal infusions dose in different conditions were calculated. There are seven conditions (-3 to +3)appearing in a rating scale for Parkinson’s disease patients. READ MORE
