  1. 1. Syn-Magmatic Deformation Structures in the Slaufrudalur Pluton, East Iceland

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Chun Hei Ho; [2023]
    Keywords : Granite; Iceland; magma chamber; magmatic microstructure; melt fraction; mush; pluton; rheology; strain; syn-magmatic deformation;

    Abstract : Structures and deformation mechanisms of magmatic rocks are controlled by rheology. An increase in melt fraction can weaken a rock body and localises significant amount of strain. This interplay between rheology, melting and deformation in a magma reservoir, however, is not always clearly documented in literature. READ MORE

  2. 2. Planning for Blue and Green Infrastructure in Response to Rising Sea Levels in Gothenburg

    University essay from KTH/Stadsbyggnad

    Author : Jiayi Lan; [2023]
    Keywords : sea level rise; blue and green infrastructure; climate-resilient design; sustainable; urban renewal;

    Abstract : Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city, faces significant environmental challenges due to climate change and risks from rising sea levels. These challenges include eutrophication, spread of environmental toxins, invasive species, and habitat loss. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wetter, Hotter Weather - Adaptation to climate challenges in Amsterdam, Netherlands

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

    Author : Joel Carlos Lopez Criollo; [2022]
    Keywords : Climate; adaptation; heat; drought; increased rainfall; flooding; climate-smart; Buiksloterham; Amsterdam; Netherlands; Arts and Architecture;

    Abstract : Climate change is happening, right now. Its effects will become more pervasive in our daily lives, and it is part of our task as urban designers to explore how to adapt our cities and communities. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Significance of Giant Flank Collapses on Magma Ascent in the NE Rift Zone of Tenerife, Canary Islands: A Structural Modelling and Diffusion Approach

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Kristoffer Ånäs; [2021]
    Keywords : Tenerife; volcanic rift zones; analogue gelatine experiments; dykes; Fe-Mg diffusion; ankaramite; Teneriffa; vulkaniska sprickzoner; analoga gelatinexperiment; gångar; Fe-Mg diffusion; ankaramit;

    Abstract : On the volcanic ocean island Tenerife in the Canary archipelago, several giant flank collapses haveoccurred over the last one million years. The link between the lateral collapses and the resultingvolcanism in the rift zones is not fully understood and was investigated within the framework of thisproject. READ MORE

  5. 5. Resolving temporal links between the Högberget granite and the Wigström tungsten skarn deposit in Bergslagen (Sweden) using trace elements and U-Pb LA-ICPMS on complex zircons

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Anders Plan; [2020]
    Keywords : Bergslagen; Wigström; Högberget; geochronology; geochemistry; U-Pb; REE; trace element; zircon; hydrothermal zircon; LA-ICPMS; SEM; skarn; tungsten; wolfram; scheelite; deposit; ore; critical raw material; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Combined U-Pb and REE trace element LA-ICPMS analyses were performed on zircons, from the scheelite-bearing Wigström skarn, associated micro-granitic dykes and the highly evolved parental Högberget (sensu stricto) granite. Combined systematic of zircon typology and microtextures, trace elements and isotopic chemistry suggest the presence of several diverse zircon types, spanning from early- to late- magmatic stage into a hydrothermal stage.
