    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Author : Hanna Driscoll; [2017]
    Keywords : foderintag; mjölkavkastning; mjölkningsfrekvens; automatisk mjölkning; grovfoderkonsumtion;

    Abstract : The aim of the study was to compare two feeding strategies, partial mixed ration (PMR) and separate feeding (SR) of grass/clover silage and concentrate, and find out how feed intake, milking frequency and milk production was affected when the cows were milked in an automatic milking system (AMS) with free cow traffic. The study included 38 cows in early to mid lactation divided into two groups fed PMR or SR and lasted for ten weeks. READ MORE

  2. 12. Milk production and protein utilization in high producing dairy cows fed a low CP diet based on cereals and roughage only : a full lactation study

    Keywords : dairy cows; lactation; milk production; protein utilization; nitrogen efficiency; dietary protein level;

    Abstract : A feeding trial investigating the effect of a concentrate diet consisting only of cereals on milk production, protein utilization and nitrogen efficiency was conducted on Swedish dairy cows. 13 SRB and 12 SH cows were randomly assigned to one of two groups: group 1 was fed a concentrate feed (Cereal), mainly consisting of barley (36%), wheat (34%), oats (25%) as well as molasses (2%) and a mineral and vitamin mix (3%), whereas group 2 had access to both Cereal and a protein rich concentrate feed (Prot) based mainly on soya bean (51%) and rapeseed cake (28%). Abstract : Att bibehålla en god produktion och god hälsa hos mjölkkor har alltid varit en viktig fråga för mjölkproducenter. Under en mjölkkos liv finns det perioder då kon går ner i avkastning och i foderintag. Anledningarna till en lägre mjölkavkastning kan vara flera, men problem med våmfloran eller värmestress är två anledningar. READ MORE
