  1. 1. Modelling the chemical recycling of plastic waste via pyrolysis and analysing integration with existing refinery infrastructure

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Simon Dahl; [2023]
    Keywords : Pyrolysis; Recycling; Integration; Modelling; Simulation; Techno-economic; Plastic; Chemical engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Current plastic management is unsustainable as large amounts of plastic end up landfilled or in the ocean, necessitating an expansion of waste management infrastructure. Pyrolysis is a viable chemical recycling option, and in this report a pyrolysis model is constructed in Aspen Plus. READ MORE

  2. 2. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 3. 3. EVALUATION OF MULTI-ZONE MODELLING FOR FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT IN TUNNELS

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Author : Annachiara Nardone; [2023]
    Keywords : tunnels; tunnel fires; multi-zone modelling; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Abstract Tunnels are one of the most complex and delicate elements of the road system. Assessing fire behaviour and fire severity remains the biggest source of uncertainty in risk assessment and is an essential step in the tunnel design process. READ MORE

  4. 4. Increase of biogas production by incorporating residual streams from agriculture

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Stephanie Fjäll; [2022]
    Keywords : Anaerobic digestion; Agricultural residue; Lignocellulosic biomass; Mechanical pretreatment; Biogas production; Biorefinery; Chemical engineering; Agriculture and Food Sciences; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : To expand the biogas production in Region Västra Götaland (RVG), residual streams from the agricultural sector can function as a large-scale supplier of biomass. The production of biogas decreases the dependence of fossil fuels and the digestate that is formed can also be returned to the agricultural sector, creating a closed loop. READ MORE

  5. 5. SOLAR ROOF - Roof potential investigation for installing PV system

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

    Author : Forough Hosseini; Saba Salehi; [2020]
    Keywords : Solar roof; solar potential; PV system; Ventilation system; Photovoltaics; million-program buildings; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : By increasing the amount of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere because of using fossil fuel and the limitation of non-renewable energy sources, solar photovoltaics technology has been growing steadily and is thought to play an important role in the realm of future energies. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the potential of the rooftops for installing PV system on a small scale of 30 multifamily houses in Gothenburg divided into four categories of age, location, roof type, and ventilation system.
