  1. 6. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Johan Holmberg; [2024]
    Keywords : Free Electron Lasers; FEL; synchrotron radiation; MAX IV; FemtoMAX; GENESIS 1.3; XFEL; X-rays; soft X-rays; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 2. 7. Greenhouse gas emissions from peat soil thawing in spring : a comparison between fertilized and unfertilized soil

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Author : Fanny Otterlin Karlsson; [2024]
    Keywords : agricultural soil; carbon dioxide; freeze-thaw cycles; nitrous oxide; soil temperature; water content;

    Abstract : Peat soils drained for agriculture and forestry contribute to a significant amount of greenhouse gas emissions. Nitrous oxide is a greenhouse gas with high warming potential and agriculture in general accounts for about 70 % of nitrous oxide emissions. READ MORE

  3. 8. Analysis of Atmospheric Muon Bundles with IceCube

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Anna Selina Neyer; [2024]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This work is a preliminary study of the background of a search for dark, long-lived particles in the IceCube detector. The high flux of atmospheric muons in IceCube is considered background to the detector's primary science goal, which is to detect astrophysical neutrinos through the emission of Cherenkov radiation. Abstract : Mass spectroscopy imaging (MSI) has become a vital tool in modern research due to its ability to visualize the spatial distribution of molecules within tissue samples. The collaboration between researchers at AZ, the University of Gothenburg, and Chalmers University of Technology using the NanoSIMS instrument and MSI-SIMS technology has opened up new avenues of exploration in pharmaceutical development, particularly in examining drugs and metabolites at sub-cellular levels. 5. 10. FIT FOR IMPLEMENTATION? A WPR - analysis of how the European Commission frames implementation challenges in the Fit for 55 proposals

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Author : Nathalie Ahlstedt Mantel; [2023-08-31]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Climate change is a large scale problem, in need of swift emission reduction to ensure a secure future for all. The EU has a long history of policymaking in the environmental field, and a vast body of previous research dwelve deeper into the development, compliance and results of the legislation. READ MORE
