  1. 6. Digital Figurations : The Human Figure as Cinematic Concept

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Filmvetenskap

    Author : Tilde Fredholm; [2016]
    Keywords : The human figure; figuration; digital technology; body; film-theory; figural; visuality; dispositif; anthropocentrism; motion-capture; materiality; Gravity; Dawn of the Planet of the Apes;

    Abstract : Mainstream cinema is to an ever-increasing degree deploying digital imaging technologies to work with the human form; expanding on it, morphing its features, or providing new ways of presenting it. This has prompted theories of simulation and virtualisation to explore the cultural and aesthetic implications, anxieties, and possibilities of a loss of the ‘real’ – in turn often defined in terms of the photographic trace. 2. 7. Model-Based Design, Development and Control of an Underwater Vehicle

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Reglerteknik

    Author : Adam Aili; Erik Ekelund; [2016]
    Keywords : Model; Design; Development; Control; Underwater; Underwater vehicle; BlueROV; ROV; Fossen; Modelling; Parameter Estimation; Prediction-error method; Extended Kalman filter; EKF; Feedback linearisation; Attitude controller; Angular velocity controller;

    Abstract : With the rising popularity of ROVs and other UV solutions, more robust and high performance controllers have become a necessity. A model of the ROV or UV can be a valuable tool during control synthesis. The main objective of this thesis was to use a model in design and development of controllers for an ROV. READ MORE

  3. 8. Stress and Sliding Stability Analysis of Songlin Rock-Filled Concrete Gravity Dam

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Elektricitetslära

    Author : Max Sundström; Max Ivedal; [2016]
    Keywords : Songlin rock-filled concrete gravity dam; rock-filled concrete; self-compacting concrete; Finite element method; static analysis; Abaqus;

    Abstract : The construction of Songlin rock-filled concrete gravity dam, located in the Yunnan province, China began in the end of 2015. In this master thesis the finite element method (FEM) based software Abaqus has been used to perform a computational analysis on tension stresses, compression stresses and sliding stability for static conditions. 4. 9. The role of experience and spillover effects in Dutch exports

    University essay from Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för nationalekonomi

    Author : Ruben Van Den Hengel; [2016]
    Keywords : experience effects; spillover effects; extended gravity;

    Abstract : By studying the export behavior of Dutch firms over the period 2009-2014 we find evidence of experience effects at the extensive margin and intensive margin of exporting when modelled in terms of export value as well as the number of countries exported to in the previous period. Spillover effects are aggregated at sector and province-level and captured in terms of other firms' export value and the number of other firms exporting to the respective geographical zone in the previous period. 5. 10. Remittances, Gender and Skills : Evidence from Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Region

    University essay from Högskolan i Jönköping/IHH, Economics, Finance and Statistics

    Author : Petya Petrova; [2015]
    Keywords : Remittances; Female Migrants; Skilled Migrants; Europe and Central Asia Region;

    Abstract : This paper aims to investigate the relationship between remittance flows and the gender and skill characteristics of the migrants. By using annual data on bilateral migration and bilateral remittances between 20 OECD sending countries and 22 receiving countries from Europe and Central Asia over the period 2010-2012, a gravity model, incorporating the share of female- and the share of skilled migrants, is estimated.
