1. Phase Diagrams of Finite Spin Chains with Coupled Spin and Lattice Vibrations
University essay from Uppsala universitet/MaterialteoriAbstract : The spin-lattice coupling is due to itinerant electrons interacting with both spins of ions and phonons, mediating a coupling between magnetic spin moments and lattice vibrations. In this project, the coupling is studied systematically for finite quantum spin chains of size 2 – 10. READ MORE

2. Graph neural networks for prediction of formation energies of crystals
University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologiAbstract : Predicting formation energies of crystals is a common but computationally expensive task. In this work, it is therefore investigated how a neural network can be used as a tool for predicting formation energies with less computational cost compared to conventional methods. READ MORE

3. Phase Behavior of Water and Cyclodextrin Systems
University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)Abstract : The effect of water on α-, β-, and γ-cyclodextrins (CD) was investigated using sorption calorimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic vapor sorption in order to understand the phase behavior and to create phase diagrams. By relating earlier X-ray diffraction patterns of cyclodextrins equilibrated over saturated salt solutions and literature regarding the cyclodextrin hydrates to the sorption calorimetry and vapor sorption results, it proved possible to determine several distinct cyclodextrin structures depending on the cyclodextrin/water composition. 4. Large scale inference under sparse and weak alternatives: non-asymptotic phase diagram for CsCsHM statistics
University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistikAbstract : High-throughput measurement technology allows to generate and store huge amounts of features, of which very few can be useful for any one single problem at hand. Examples include genomics, proteomics and astronomy, where massive multiple testing often needs to be per- formed, expecting a few significant effects and essentially a null back- ground. READ MORE
