  1. 1. Computation of Acoustic Wave Propagation Under Water

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Frida Thörn; [2022]
    Keywords : Wave equation; Helmholtz equation; Waveholtz iteration; finite difference method; summation by parts; energy method; point source; curvilinear coordinates; vågekvationen; helmholtz ekvation; waveholtz iteration; finita differens methoden; energimetoden; punktkälla; kurvlinjära koordinater; kroklinjiga koordinater; SBP;

    Abstract : In this thesis we look at acoustic wave propagation under water. We look in particular at waves generated by a point source and what happens with the propagation when we model the bottom as flat or as curvilinear. We assume the source to be working at a certain frequency and therefore we model this problem by solving the Helmholtz equation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Numerical simulation of acoustic wave propagation with a focus on modeling sediment layers and large domains

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Author : Elias Estensen; [2022]
    Keywords : Helmholtz; wave equation; acoustics; ocean acoustics; numerical analysis; computational science; finite differences; summation by parts; sbp; waveholtz; cylindrical coordinates; sediment layers; interface; super-grid; super grid; absorbing layer; Helmholtz; vågekvationen; akustik; undervattensakustik; numerisk analys; beräkningsvetenskap; finita differenser; summation by parts; sbp; cylindriska koordinater; waveholtz; sedimentskikt; interface; super-grid; absorberande lager;

    Abstract : In this report, we study how finite differences can be used to simulate acoustic wave propagation originating from a point source in the ocean using the Helmholtz equation. How to model sediment layers and the vast size of the ocean is studied in particular. READ MORE

  3. 3. Deep Learning for Dynamic Portfolio Optimization

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Victor Molnö; [2021]
    Keywords : Dynamic portfolio optimization; No-trade-region; Deep learning; Policy iteration; Dynamisk portföljoptimering; Handelsstoppregion; Djupinlärning; Policyiterering;

    Abstract : This thesis considers a deep learning approach to a dynamic portfolio optimization problem. A proposed deep learning algorithm is tested on a simplified version of the problem with promising results, which suggest continued testing of the algorithm, on a larger scale for the original problem. 4. 4. Dynamical Functional Particle Method applied to the Schrödinger Equation : Exact solutions of three-body exotic ions

    University essay from Institutionen för naturvetenskap, teknik och matematik

    Author : Kristoffer Karlsson; [2012]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this master thesis has been to solve the fully correlated non-relativistic Schrödinger Equation for three-particle systems by using the Dynamical Functional Particle Method (DFPM) and control the solutions by comparing with the results from the literature. The three-particle systems that has been analyzed is helium, a muon-based ion and the negative ion of positronium. READ MORE
