  1. 1. A C++ Matrix library for computing the Gateaux derivative of the Fermi-Dirac operator

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Author : William Samuelsson; [2023]
    Keywords : C ; Quantum Chemistry; Matrix functions;

    Abstract : Computing the Fermi-Dirac operator is done through recursive polynomial expansions, using the SP2 and SP2 Acc algorithms. The Gateaux derivative is computed for both schemes by mapping the zeroth and first order matrices onto a block upper triangular matrix, which is implemented in Python using Numpy arrays to store full matrices and in C++ by first constructing a basic matrix library to use as blocks in a later created block upper triangular matrix library which only directly references two blocks in a 2 x 2 block matrix. 2. 2. How sustainable are sustainable enterprises? Examining sustainability and economic value trade-offs in a Danish coffee company

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Företagsekonomiska institutionen

    Author : Dominik Mazur; Linnea Partelow; [2023]
    Keywords : sustainable enterprise; entrepreneurship; trade-offs; sustainability; triple bottom line; coffee roastery; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : Starting a sustainable business is challenging because growth decisions need to balance sustainability impact and economic feasibility. This thesis seeks to examine what trade-offs sustainable enterprises face and how they balance decision making when faced with these dual logics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Exploring New Physics Through Collider and Gravitational Wave Measurements with Artificial Neural Networks: the Case Study of QCD-like Technicolor

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Ashar Ahmed Kamal; [2023]
    Keywords : Artificial Neural Networks; ANN; Beyond the Standard Model; BSM; parameter space scan; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : With physicists actively exploring Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories that may fill in the gaps of the Standard Model (SM), a fundamental question arises: which parameters hold physical significance? In this thesis, we present our initial progress towards the development of a model-independent artificial intelligence framework designed for conducting parameter space scans in BSM scenarios. Our framework incorporates several publicly available high-energy physics packages, namely SPheno, HiggsBounds, HiggsSignals, and CosmoTransitions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wrist Angle Estimation Using Two Wearable Inertial Measurement Units

    University essay from KTH/Medicinteknik och hälsosystem

    Author : Arvin Razavi; [2023]
    Keywords : IMU wrist angle estimation; Wrist absolute angle; IMU-based human motion capture; orientation filter; Complementary filter; Kalman filter; IMU handledsvinkeluppskattning; handleds absolutvinkel; IMU-baserad mänsklig rörelsefångst; orienteringsfilter; komplementfilter; Kalman-filter;

    Abstract : Hand-intensive work is closely related to the prevalence of upper body and hand/wrist work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in office work, manufacturing, service industries, as well as the healthcare industry. Some risk factors include vibrations, forceful exertions, heavy manual handling, repetitive motions, and prolonged nonneutral wrist postures. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phase Transitions in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model with a Softly-Broken Z2 Symmetry

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Filip Gustavsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Particle Physics; Beyond Standard Model; Two-Higgs Doublet Model; 2HDM; Electroweak Phase Transitions; Strong First-order Phase Transition; Dimensional Reduction; CP-conserving; Softly broken Z2-symmetry; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is an extension to the Standard Model which adds a second Higgs doublet. This extension provides freedom within the model, in comparison to the Standard Model, which makes it possible to study strong electroweak phase transitions. READ MORE
