  1. 6. Moment-resisting connections for glulam using birch plywood : An experimental study on both mechanical and adhesive connections

    University essay from KTH/Byggnadsmaterial

    Author : Jonatan Ringaby; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of mechanical and adhesively bonded connections in timber structures with gusset plates made of birch plywood, as a preliminary study for potential future use in long-span timber structures which could reduce the environmental impact of the building sector by substituting steel with wood products in moment-resisting connections. Birch plywood was chosen for this study due to its high bending strength in comparison to plywood made of softwoods and its availability on the market. READ MORE

  2. 7. The Correlation of Workability and Mechanical Strength in air lime binders with different aggregates and pozzolan

    Keywords : conservation; air-limes; binders; aggregates; pozzolan;

    Abstract : In this study are investigated two air lime binders common in conservation practice. The first one is a commercial air lime, emerging from dry slaking, which was left to age for 4 months. The second is a natural quicklime emerging from the burning in a traditional lime kiln from Mariestad, Sweden. READ MORE

  3. 8. Infrared Curing of Glass Fiber Composite Tube : Optimization of the curing cycle

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Avdelningen för maskin- och materialteknik

    Author : Rasmus Fredheim; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis has investigated the possibility of optimizing curing time by changing the energy source from a conventional oven to infrared radiation (IR) and if it is possible to achieve similar results as the company's current production of glass fiber composite tubes.   Many different parameters (time, temperature, heating rate, and rotation speed) might influence a cured composite tube's properties.
