  1. 1. Uranium nitride synthesis by gas/gas reaction of UF6 and NH3

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Serena Ambrosino; [2024]
    Keywords : Uranium nitride; synthesis; ammonolysis; uranium hexafluoride; uranium tetrafluoride; ammonia; X-ray diffraction; microscopy; Urannitrid; syntes; ammonolys; uranhexafluorid; urantetrafluorid; ammoniak; röntgendiffraktion; mikroskopi;

    Abstract : This thesis project aims to develop an innovative technique for the production of high-purity uranium nitride (UN) through the ammonolysis of fluorides. The desired objective is to perform a controlled gas/gas reaction between uranium hexafluoride (UF6) and ammonia (NH3) at 800°C. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimizing a Single Atom Catalyst for theOxygen Evolution Reaction using DensityFunctional Theory

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Vivien Hjelm; [2019]
    Keywords : Single atom catalyst; oxygen evolution reaction; density functional theory; heterogeneous catalyst; transition metals;

    Abstract : The growing interest of renewable fuel and energy sources has steadily increased over time due to climate changes. Research is being made around the world to find solutions for the different problems; one possible solution is to produce hydrogen gas to help phase out the usage of fossil fuels. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation of white-light generation as possible seed for a mid-infrared optical parametric chirped pulse amplifier

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Chuang Lu; [2017]
    Keywords : nonlinear linear optics; ultrafast optics; Mid-infrared generation; near-infrared; Optical parametric amplification; Optical Parametric Chirped-pulse Amplification; supercontinuum generation; white-light generation; laser induced filamentation; Dispersion-scan; nonlinear propagation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : White-light spectra of different crystals, based on 1030-nm intense pump pulses have been investigated in order to derive a near-infrared seed for mid-infrared generation. Among ten crystals, YAG (yttrium aluminium garnet), KGW (potassium gadolinium tungstate) and YVO4 (yttrium orthovanadate) exhibit the most suitable properties for supercontinuum generation with high efficiency for spectral broadening as well as high tolerance to optical damage. Abstract : This thesis studies how scientists and science were put to use in the passing of the 1962 Water Fluoridation Act. The law was created for a specific purpose: that of facilitating the continuation of the water fluoridation trials that had been under way in Norrköping until January 1962, when they were forced to cease, having been deemed illegal by the Supreme Administrative Court. 5. 5. Acid neutralization using steel slags : Adsorption of fluorides in solutions using AOD slags

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Jesper Larsson; [2015]
    Keywords : acid neutralization; AOD slag; fluoride adsorption; syraneutralisering; AOD slagg; fluoradsorption;

    Abstract : Surface treatment processes of stainless steel, such as pickling, produces acidic waste water consisting of Na⁺, Cl⁻, F⁻, NO⁻3, SO42-, PO43-, Fe3+, Cr6+ and Ni2+. At Sandvik ABs steel works in Sandviken, this waste water is treated and neutralized using slaked lime before being released into the lake Storsjön. READ MORE
