  1. 16. Importance of fish community structure, nutrients and browning for shallow lake ecosystem dynamics : A modelling perspective

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Ylva Karlberg; [2019]
    Keywords : biological modelling; bowning; food webs; trophic interactions; top-down and bottom-up control; nutrients; light; shallow lake; biologisk modellering; brunifiering; födovävar; trofiska interaktioner; näring; ljus; grund sjö;

    Abstract : In a changing climate, it is increasingly important to be able to model environmental effects on food webs, and to do that, one must have appropriate dynamic models. I present a shallow lake ecosystem model where producers, grazers, carnivores, piscivores, and detritivores are coupled through resource (light, nutrients and detritus) fluxes between the benthic and pelagic habitats and through carnivore life history events (ontogenetic habitat and diet shifts). 2. 17. The Importance of Trait Mediated Indirect Interactions in Marine Ecosystems

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Author : Carlos Valbuena-Gonzalo; [2019]
    Keywords : TMII; BMII; behaviour; predation; non-comsuptive effect;

    Abstract : The importance of Trait Mediated Indirect Interactions (TMII) is increasingly being recognized. TMII are interactions between two species via a change in trait (behavioural, morphological, but not numerical) over a third one, which together cause ecological dynamics. READ MORE

  3. 18. The effect of riparian buffer properties on spider communities and aquatic-terrestrial food-web lingages : using polyunsaturated fatty acids as biomarkers

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Ellinor Ramberg; [2019]
    Keywords : riparian buffer; polyunsaturated fatty acids; spiders; trophic connectivity; subsidies; agricultural landscape;

    Abstract : Riparian habitats are key habitat interfaces that regulate flows of resource subsidies between aquatic and terrestrial food webs, whilst supporting high biodiversity andproviding ecosystem services. However, frequently these habitats are highly degraded, especially in agricultural landscapes. READ MORE

  4. 19. Påverkar klimatförändringen trofisk fraktionering av C och N mellan växt och konsument i sötvattenekosystem?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Evelina Hiltunen; [2018]
    Keywords : chironomus riparius; stable isotopes; trophic fractionation; climate change; oligotrophication;

    Abstract : Temperaturhöjningen som en följd av klimatförändringen väntas gå fortast och bli störst på Nord- och Sydpolen. När lufttemperaturen stiger, stiger även vattentemperaturer och vegetationsgränser flyttas. Detta skulle kunna vara orsaken till den näringsutarmning som kan ses i många arktiska sjöar. READ MORE

  5. 20. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in the Baltic Sea region : The effects of SSRI on teleost fish

    University essay from Södertörns högskola/Institutionen för naturvetenskap, miljö och teknik

    Author : Ida Skaring; [2018]
    Keywords : SSRI; Teleost; Physical effect; Behavioral effect; Ecological impact;

    Abstract : Pharmaceuticals, enter the aquatic environments through sewage treatment plants and may affect fish. This examination paper is a literature study that focuses on Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, SSRIs, exposure and the impacts on teleosts in the Baltic Sea by assessment of peer-reviewed literature and material.
