  1. 1. Domain Adaptation for Multi-Contrast Image Segmentation in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Thomas Proudhon; [2023]
    Keywords : Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Deep Learning; Domain Adaptation; Unsupervised Segmentation; Image-to-image Translation;

    Abstract : Accurate segmentation of the ventricles and myocardium on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) images is crucial to assess the functioning of the heart or to diagnose patients suffering from myocardial infarction. However, the domain shift existing between the multiple sequences of CMR data prevents a deep learning model trained on a specific contrast to be used on a different sequence. READ MORE

  2. 2. Test and Calibration of CUBES: a CubeSat X-ray Detector

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Caroline Holmberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Applied Physics; Astroparticle Physics; Tillämpad fysik; Astropartikelfysik;

    Abstract : CUBES is an X-ray detector that will be placed aboard the KTH 3U CubeSat mission, MIST. Its purpose is to detect high energy X-rays as well as to test various components in a space environment. Two CUBES will be placed on the satellite. Each CUBES consists of a printed circuit board (PCB) with three multi pixel photon counters (MPPCs). READ MORE

  3. 3. Dye sensitzation effects on lanthanide upconversion nanoparticles

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Dag Albin Bäck; Andreas Jörgensen; [2022]
    Keywords : Dye sensitization; lanthanide upconversion nanoparticles; upconversion nanoparticles; UCNP; IR806;

    Abstract : In this report we studied the properties of the dye IR806 and possible mechanisms of the dye sensitization effect on ytterbium-erbium co-doped upconversion nanoparticles. We found that the dye IR806 has two primary emission peaks in the NIR spectral range at around 850 nm and at around 950 nm. READ MORE

  4. 4. The value of cardiac MRI texture analysis in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis

    University essay from

    Author : Evin Ina Papalini; [2021-05-10]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Myocarditis; Cardiac magnetic resonance; Texture analysis;

    Abstract : Purpose: The aim of this proof-of-concept study was to assess the diagnostic value of texture analysis (TA) based on conventional balanced steady-state-free precession (bSSFP), late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and T2-weighted cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis. Method: A retrospective cohort study was performed based on 30 patients who underwent a comprehensive CMRI due to clinically suspected myocarditis between 2013 and 2018 at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital: 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers (Troponin T, indicating myocardial injury) as well as positive CMRI findings according to Lake Louise Criteria (LLC; group 1), 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers but negative CMRI findings according to LLC (group 2), and 10 patients with clinical signs but both negative myocardial biomarkers as well as CMRI findings according to LLC (control group). 5. 5. Material decomposition using a photon counting X-ray detector in low energy range

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Rasmus Solem; [2021]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Material decomposition in X-ray imaging is used to separate different materials or elements in an image and to quantify their respective concentration. The material decomposition and quantification are made possible by the dependency of attenuation on the attenuating material and photon energy. READ MORE
