  1. 1. Parentage Assignment using genetic markers in the common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Sven Kristian Feddersen; [2023]
    Keywords : single nucleotide polymorphism; Parentage Assignment; aquaculture; genetic markers;

    Abstract : This study investigated the effect of varying single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) marker density, error threshold selection, and different SNP selection strategies on parentage assignment accuracy in carp populations. Using a marker set of 15,615 SNPs, we found a positive correlation between the quantity of SNP markers and the accuracy of parentage assignments, consistent with existing literature. READ MORE

  2. 2. Skillnader mellan granindivider gällande initieringsfrekvens för somatisk embryogenes

    University essay from SLU/School for Forest Management

    Author : Josefine Björs; Jonathan Sjögren; [2023]
    Keywords : skogsträdsförädling; Picea abies; fröklonförökning;

    Abstract : Gran (Picea abies) har länge varit ett viktigt trädslag för den svenska skogsnäringen. Skogsbruket står inför en oviss framtid och med ett alltmer ostadigt klimat behövs ett genetiskt material som kan klara dessa nya prövningar. READ MORE

  3. 3. Odlingsavståndets betydelse för korspollinering i böna (Phaseolus vulgaris) : en nordisk fältstudie baserad på hypokotylfärg som morfologisk markör

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Author : Anne Schultz; [2023]
    Keywords : Korsbefruktning; inkorsning; genetisk mångfald; genbank; NordGen; fröuppförökning;

    Abstract : Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur odlingsavståndet mellan olika accessioner av böna, Phaseolus vulgaris påverkar sannolikheten för inkorsningar. Phaseolus vulgaris klassas som en i huvudsak självpollinerande gröda men studier har visat att inkorsningar i P. READ MORE

  4. 4. Swedish red clover-associated Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii share high genetic similarity in the 16S gene but divergence in nod genes

    University essay from SLU/Department of Plant Biology (from 140101)

    Author : Tua Lilja; [2023]
    Keywords : genetics; nitrogen fixation; sustainability; symbiosis; taxonomy;

    Abstract : Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar trifolii (Rlt) is a root-associated soil bacterium (rhizobia) capable of entering a symbiotic relationship with various species of clover (Trifolium sp.) and fix nitrogen within root nodules. READ MORE

  5. 5. Controls of the partitioning of nitrate between DNRA and denitrifiers

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Author : Frida Lindvall; [2022]
    Keywords : DNRA; denitrification; microcosm; experiment; arable soil;

    Abstract : In arable soils, the importance of denitrification, a respiratory process where nitrate (NO3-) is stepwisely reduced to nitrogen gas and nitrous oxide (N2O) is well established. More recently has dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA) gained interest as its importance in agricultural soils might have been largely overlooked. READ MORE
