    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Melinda Winell; [2022]
    Keywords : Jordgubbar; koldioxidutsläpp; växthusutsläpp; GWP100; LCA; transport; förpackingar; EU-pallar; höga tunnlar; polytunnel; skördemängd; avkastning; södra Europa; Spanien; Sverige;

    Abstract : GWP100 [kg CO2eq/kg färska jordgubbar] har studerats för livscykelstadierna transport, förpackningar, transportmaterial samt EU-pallar utifrån två representativa system för en tunnelodling av Fragaria x ananassa i södra Europa respektive i Skåne. Studiens syfte är att utvärdera om lokalt odlade jordgubbar från Skåne är ett hållbart alternativ till Sveriges import av kulturer från södra Europa. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimization of support in rock pillars between two parallel tunnels

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik

    Author : Alexander Kote; Sohaib Ishaq; [2022]
    Keywords : tunnel; rock pillar support; rock pillar stability; rock mass; stresses; arching effect; Nyckelord: tunnel; bergförstärkning; bergpelare; bergmassa; spänningar; valveffekt;

    Abstract : When two parallel tunnels are excavated under high to moderate horizontal in-situ stresses combined with minor deformations in the pillar between the tunnels, the in-situ stresses can be redistributed over the tunnels in form of two compressive arches and are transferred from the roof to the abutments of the two tunnels. At additional deformations in the pillar, a new redistribution of the stresses can occur creating one compressive arch over both of the tunnels. READ MORE

  3. 3. A novel way of building high-speed railways with optimised overhead wire lengths

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Axel Backlund; [2021]
    Keywords : High-speed railways; dynamic programming; optimization; Höghastighetsjärnväg; dynamisk programmering; optimering;

    Abstract : High-speed railways provide fast, comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation for passengers. However, they are fraught with high investment costs that decrease the willingness of governments to construct new lines. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of air quality in underground train stations

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Abstract : Particulate matter (PM) is a widespread air pollutant of microscopic particles that are suspended in the atmosphere. There is high concentration of PM in underground train stations and tunnels. The concentration of particulate matter (PM10) measured in Stockholm’s metro varies significantly between day and nighttime traffic of trains. READ MORE

  5. 5. Maglev deployment in winter climate

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Axel Thorstrand; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : As of year 2020, maglev train systems are not in service in areas with harsh winter climate. Compared to conventional railway, the technology is relatively new and untested in conditions of low temperatures, icing and snow. READ MORE
