  1. 1. Combining the GW Approximation with the Hubbard I Approximation for strongly correlated materials

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Torsten Strunck; [2019]
    Keywords : GWA; GW Approximation; HIA; Hubbard I Approximation; Hubbard-I Approximation; Hubbard model; DMFT; Dynamical Mean Field Theory; strongly correlated materials; electron correlations; solid state physics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the GW approximation (GWA, Green's function G times screened interaction W) and the Hubbard I approximation (HIA) are combined in a non-self-consistent one-shot calculation to determine the electronic structure of a one-dimensional strongly-correlated model. The scheme was chosen to incorporate both screening effects through the GWA and strong on-site correlations through the atomic HIA. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Space-Time Study of the Electron-Electron Interaction in High-TC Parent Compound La2CuO4: In Search of an Attractive Effective Interaction

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Tor Sjöstrand; [2016]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The superconductivity under doping in the famous cuprate compounds is believed to originate in the CuO2 planes. The mediator of pairing is generally accepted to be induced from electronic degrees of freedom. READ MORE

  3. 3. Numerical Studies of Vortex Core States in Type II Superconductors

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Christin Edblom; [2012]
    Keywords : superconductivity; type II; vortex; s-wave; Bogoliubov-de Gennes; supraledning; typ II; virvel; s-våg; Bogoliubov-de Gennes;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study an isolated vortex in an s-wave superconductor by solving the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations self-consistently on a disc. We calculate the order parameter and supercurrent profiles, as well as the distribution of quasiparticle states. READ MORE

  4. 4. Deriving an extended one-band Hubbard model for cuprate superconductors

    University essay from KTH/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Karl-Oskar Backlund; [2011]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The so-called three-band Hubbard model is generally believed to be a good model for fermions on a CuO 2 lattice and to contain key features allowing to understand high-temperature superconductivity in the cuprates. A simpler and more popular model is the one-band Hubbard model. READ MORE
