  1. 1. Vegetation responses to Late Glacial climate shifts as reflected in a high resolution pollen record from Blekinge, south-eastern Sweden, compared with responses of other climate proxies

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Artemis Karlatou-Charalampopoulou; [2016]
    Keywords : lake sediments; Blekinge; SE Sweden; Pleistocene-Holocene boundary; loss on ignition; pollen analysis; high time-resolution; time lags; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Denna studie fokuserar på en nästan 1700 år lång sjösedimentsekvens från Hässeldala Port i centrala Blekinge, sydöstra Sverige. Den omfattar övergångsperioden mellan pleistocen och holocen, eller mer precist eventen GI-1a och GS-1 samt början av den holocena epoken i iskärnorna, vilket motsvarar de sydsvenska pollenzonerna sen allerød till tidig preboreal. 2. 2. Geochemical and palaeomagnetic characteristics of a Swedish Holocene sediment sequence from Lake Storsjön, Jämtland

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Joakim Robygd; [2015]
    Keywords : Jämtland; geochemistry; palaeomagnetism; PSV; sedimentation rate; Holocene development; geochronology; climate change; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : As a part of a French-Swedish collaboration project to reconstruct middle to northern European climate variations during the Holocene, a sediment sequence from Lake Storsjön, Jämtland was retrieved and analysed for geochemical and palaeomagnetic properties. The subsampled sequence, composed of one freeze core and three Niederreiter piston cores, revealed information of both climatic, environmental and anthropogenic changes over the past 10,800 years. 3. 3. Neck mobility, Grazing habits, and intraspecific combat behaviour in the Giant Pleistocene horned Turtle Meiolania Platyceps

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Andréas Jannel; [2015]
    Keywords : Testudinata; neck retraction; cervical vertebrae; Photogrammetry; 3D modelling; Testudinata; rétraction du cou; vertèbres cervicales; Photogrammétrie; Modélisation 3D; Testudinata; hals indragning; halskotor; fotogrammetri; 3D-modellering;

    Abstract : Meiolania platyceps is the stratigraphically youngest, and osteologically best-known members of the enigmatic Paleogene-Holocene testudinatan clade Meiolaniidae. This study generated digital reconstructions of intervertebral mobility using the complete cervical series of M. READ MORE

  4. 4. Palaeomagnetic secular variations in the varved sediments of lake Gościąż, Poland : testing the stability of the natural remanent magnetization and validity of relative palaeointensity estimates

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Andreas Nilsson; [2006]
    Keywords : Palaeomagnetism; Holocene varved lake sediments; varve chronology; geomagnetic models; Holocena varviga sjösediment; varvkronologi; geomagnetiska modeller; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Fyra två meter långa borrkärnor, med sjösediment från Gościąż, Polen, analyserades med hjälp av den s.k. Pseudo-Thellier metoden, en metod som används för att utvärdera tillförlitligheten av variationer av styrkan i det jordmagnetiska (palaeointensiteten) fältet över tiden. READ MORE

  5. 5. A study of early Holocene climate changes in Småland, Sweden, with focus on the '8.2 kyr event'

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen
