  1. 1. Measuring copper abundances in the Galactic Bulge

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Nikolei Höglinger; [2024]
    Keywords : Copper; Galaxy: abundances; Galaxy: bulge; Chemical Evolution; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Context: The chemical evolution of Cu in the Galactic bulge have been studied in a few studies using red giant branch stars, but the ages of individual red giant stars are difficult to determine. In addition, the bulge has been a challenging region of the Milky Way galaxy to obtain high-resolution spectra of stars, except when observing through certain few small fields into the bulge that are known to have low extinction. 2. 2. The Metallicity Structure of the Milky Way Halo II : Characterising the distant halo substructure

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Amanda Byström; [2022]
    Keywords : Milky Way; Galactic archaeology; halo; photometric metallicities; stellar catalogue; Gaia-Enceladus-Sausage; Sagittarius; Pristine survey; metallicity; Gaia mission;

    Abstract : The Milky Way galaxy, like all spiral galaxies, is surrounded by a roughly spherical distribution of stars called the halo. The halo was largely formed when the galaxy merged with smaller galaxies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Isochrone and chemical ages of stars in the old open cluster M67

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Julia Ahlvind; [2021]
    Keywords : solar twin; Messier 67; M67; open cluster; isochrone; chemical clock;

    Abstract : The open cluster Messier 67 is known to have chemical composition, metallicity and age (~ 4 Gyr) close to the Sun. Therefore, it is advantageous for stellar physical studies and of stellar evolution, in particular for solar like stars within the cluster. READ MORE

  4. 4. A 3D Sub-Surface Characterisation of the Arnager Greensand, South-west Skåne

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Gregory Marcel Davies Jones; [2019]
    Keywords : Arnager Greensand; digitization; depth conversion; reservoir; storage potential;

    Abstract :  A surface characterisation of the Arnager Greensand in south Sweden, a deep saline aquifer found to be suitable for geological storage of CO2 or energy storage, was undertaken in this thesis. Vintage seismic reflection data only available as scanned tiff images of the final stacked sections were digitized and processed using modern interpretation software to provide new insights into the morphology of the Arnager Greensand and to analyse the reservoir’s potential as an energy storage unit.
