  1. 1. An annual evaluation of CH4 oxidation in a freshwater lake

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Author : Eldina Cehic; [2020]
    Keywords : Methane oxidation; isotopic fractionation; stratification; open steady-state and closed system.; Metanoxidation; isotopfraktionering; stratifiering; öppet stabilt system och stängt system;

    Abstract : Freshwater lakes constrain its methane (CH4) emissions through CH4 oxidation. CH4 includes three carbon (C) isotopes; the stable isotopes 12C,13C and the unstable and more uncommon isotope 14C. Methanotrophs (i.e. READ MORE

  2. 2. Behaviour of Boron Isotopes During Magmatic Degassing and Application to B-Rich Volcanic Glassfrom Lesbos, Greece

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Konstantinos Thomaidis; [2017]
    Keywords : boron isotopes; volcanic glass; SIMS; magmatic degassing; Lesbos Island; borisotoper; vulkaniskt glas; SIMS; magmatisk avgasning; Lesbos;

    Abstract : Boron is a fluid mobile trace element and is routinely employed as a tracer of slab-derived fluids in subduction zones since the heavy isotope (11B) preferentially partitions into the fluid phase during slab dehydration. However, it has been shown experimentally that boron isotopes (expressed as δ11B) can fractionate by up to several permil (‰) during subsequent magmatic evolution and degassing at high temperature, calling into doubt the fidelity of boron isotopes in volcanic glass as accurate tracers of slab degassing. 3. 3. The role of catchment scale for determining hydrological flow paths during spring flood

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Viktor Sjöblom; [2005]
    Keywords : melt water; flow paths; stream flow generation; soil frost; wetlands; 18O; isotopic hydrograph separation;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study was to explore the pathways of melt water during the spring flood. Snow melt is a complex process of great importance for boreal ecosystems, and there are major challenges remaining to fully understand the stream flow generation. The study was carried out at Vindeln Experimental Forests, Vindeln in northern Sweden. READ MORE
