  1. 1. Correction of Inhomogeneous Data in the Precipitation Time Series of Sweden Due to the Wind Shield Introduction

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Ioannis Sofokleous; [2016]
    Keywords : Precipitation data correction; precipitation time series; homogenization of precipitation data; wind shield; wind screen; aerodynamic wind error; Nederbördsdatakorrektion; nederbörds tidsserier; inhomogena nederbördsdata; vindskydd; vindskärm; aerodynamiska vindfel;

    Abstract : The work of this master thesis is based on analyses of monthly precipitation data from 70 stations of the SMHI (Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute) in Sweden, in the period 1860-2014, using the information for the year of introduction of the wind shield at each station. The primary goal is the calculation of correction factors which will be applied on the precipitation data in the period of measurements before the introduction of the wind shield. READ MORE

  2. 2. A climatological study of Clear Air Turbulence over the North Atlantic

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Leon Lee; [2013]
    Keywords : CAT; clear air turbulence; turbulence indices; climatology; North Atlantic; ERA-Interim; AMDAR; CAT; clear air turbulence; klarluftsturbulens; turbulensindex; klimatologi; nordatlanten; ERA-Interim; AMDAR;

    Abstract : Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) is the turbulence experienced at high altitude on board an aircraft. The main mechanisms for its generation are often said to be Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and mountain waves. CAT is an issue to the aviation industry in the sense that it is hard to predict its magnitude and exact location. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hydrodynamic modelling and estimation of exchange rates for Bardawil Lagoon, Egypt. An investigation of governing forces and physical processes using numerical models.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Jonas Linnersund; Erik Mårtensson; [2008]
    Keywords : Fysisk geografi; climatology; cartography; Environmental studies; Miljöstudier; wind; water balance; tide; sediment transport; salt balance; renewal time; net intertidal volume; finite element; internal circulation; ADCIRC; CMS-Flow; Bardawil Lagoon; Physical geography; pedology; geomorphology; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Technological sciences; Teknik; Earth and Environmental Sciences; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Bardawil Lagoon, a natural lagoon located on the northern coast of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, there are three inlets of which two are man-made connecting the lagoon with the Mediterranean Sea. The inlets are subjected to changes in morphology, due to sediment transport, over time and this may lead to degrees of closure of either inlet. READ MORE

  4. 4. Estimation of Evapotranspiration through remote sensing. Comparison between three different resolution sensors at Barrax field, Spain.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : John Diego Sierra Torres; [2008]

    Abstract : Nowadays importance of water balance regarding measurements and water cycle pathways are of prime interest in a new perspective. Global issues, like Earth warming, or regional planned uses of water, e.g. irrigation, demand an increase in accuracy and coverage of different components of the water balance. READ MORE

  5. 5. Seasonal Closure of Chilaw Inlet in Sri Lanka -Physical Processes and Mathematical Modelling-

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Alexandra Angelbratt; Jon Klyft; [2007]
