  1. 16. Morphological Studies of Nanowire Surfaces Using Scanning Probe Techniques

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Johan Knutsson; [2012]
    Keywords : STM; Nanowire; Semiconductor; Morphology; Surface; InAs; Heterostructure; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Highly structured polytypic InAs III-V semiconductor nanowires with an axial stacking of wurtzite (WZ) and zincblende (ZB) segments were studied using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/S). The periodic changes in the axial direction of the crystal structure were achieved by precisely tuning the growth parameters, and no unwanted doping gradient was required. READ MORE

  2. 17. Blinking quantum dots: Statistics through image analysis

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Erik Gedeborg; Mikael Li; [2011]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this project we have developed an image processing program called Quantum Dot Analyzer that is able to detect and record quantum dot blinking sequences. Our purpose with the program was to analyze blinking quantum dots and to generate statistics for further research. READ MORE

  3. 18. Growth and characterization of Ge quantum dots on SiGe-based multilayer structures

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Andreas Frisk; [2009]
    Keywords : Ge dots; SiGe; Thermistor; IR-detector; Bolometer; intermixing; strain;

    Abstract : Thermistor material can be used to fabricate un-cooled IR detectors their figure of merit is the Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR). Ge dots in Si can act as a thermistor material and they have a theoretical TCR higher than for SiGe layers but they suffer from intermixing of Si into the Ge dots. READ MORE

  4. 19. Silicon/Germanium Molecular Beam Epitaxy

    University essay from Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap, fysik och matematik

    Author : Leif Ericsson; [2006]
    Keywords : Silicon; Germanium; Molecular Beam Epitaxy; MBE; Quantum wells; Kisel; germanium; Molecular Beam Epitaxy; MBE; kvantbrunn;

    Abstract : Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) is a well-established method to grow low-dimensional structures for research applications. MBE has given many contributions to the rapid expanding research-area of nano-technology and will probably continuing doing so. READ MORE
