  1. 1. Test setup for LDMX HCal readout

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Joshua Greaves; [2020]
    Keywords : Dark matter; LDMX; dark photon; hadronic calorimeter; photomultiplier tube; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : It is evident from cosmological observations such as the Cosmic Microwave Background, and the motion of galaxies, that the universe consists of approximately 5 times more mass than visible matter can account for. The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) will take a unique approach in its hunt for dark matter; it will look for missing momentum signals in electron collisions with a Tungsten target, and will be looking in the sub GeV energy range for evidence of dark matter interactions. 2. 2. Dispersion management and characterization of ultrashort laser pulses for the optimization of parametric processes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Axel Elfving; [2019]
    Keywords : frequency resolved optical gating; optical parametric amplification; difference frequency generation; nonlinear optics; laser pulse compression; lasers; optics; Technology and Engineering; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis set out to continue the development of a short-wave infrared (SWIR) optical parametric amplifier (OPA). The system is based on a Yb-ber chirped pulse amplification (CPA) laser delivering 400 fs long pulses, centered around 1030 nm, at 200 kHz repetition rate and 40 W average power. READ MORE

  3. 3. Optical studies of wrapgated InP nanowires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Henrik Torstensson; [2019]
    Keywords : Nanowire; InP; ITO; wrapgate; photoluminescence; interface states.; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis describes optical spectroscopy on III-V semiconductor InP nanowires (NW) with a transparent indium-tin-oxide (ITO) gate electrode. The NWs are arranged both as vertical arrays with a wrap all around gate and as single lateral NWs with an omega-shaped gate for increased electrostatic effect. READ MORE

  4. 4. Noncollinear optical parametric amplification of a supercontinuum

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Henrik Åkesson; [2019]
    Keywords : optical parametric amplification; supercontinuum generation; nonlinear optics; laser pulse compression; lasers; optics; Physics and Astronomy; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : During this thesis, work has been done towards realizing a short-wave infrared (SWIR) laser source based on optical parametric amplification. It is planned that this setup should be able to produce few-cycle laser pulses at 2μm with a stable carrier-envelope phase (CEP). READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of Spectroscopic Measurements for Raman and Thomson Scattering Diagnostics ——Applications in Combustion and Plasma

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik

    Author : Miaoxin Gong; [2019]
    Keywords : Raman scattering; Raman spectroscopy; Thomson scattering; stray light suppression; periodic shadowing; high dynamic range imaging; digital micro-mirror device; DMD; laminar flames; combustion; gas discharge; plasma; laser diagnostics; spectrometer; improved spectroscopy; spectroscopy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis work concerns methods for improved spectroscopy including stray-light suppression, dynamic range improvement and signal enhancement. These methods were applied in Raman and Thomson- scattering spectroscopy in combustion and plasma. READ MORE
