  1. 1. Biopolymers processed and used as enzyme carriers

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Dániel Mészáros; [2023]
    Keywords : Biobased materials; plasticized sodium alginate; water stability; extraction kinetics; enzyme carrier; Biobaserade material; Mjukgjort natriumalginat; Vattenstabilitet; extraktionskinetik; Enzymbärare;

    Abstract : Syftet med detta masterprojekt var att undersöka möjligheten att använda biobaserat, mjukgjort natriumalginat (NaAlg) som enzymbärare. Alginaterna görs traditionellt bearbetbara genom att tillsätta olika mjukgörare, såsom polyoler (glycerol, sorbitol, etc.), i detta arbete användes glycerol. READ MORE

  2. 2. Avenanthramides as a means to slow rancidity development in oats

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI)

    Author : Wing Tung Lo; [2022]
    Keywords : avenanthramides; rancidification; lipid oxidation; oats; antioxidants; biotechnology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Cereal grains are an important staple in many diets across the globe. Being one of the most cultivated cereal crops worldwide, especially in Nordic countries, oats are known to have a high dietary fibre content and a nutritional value that makes them highly beneficial for human health. 3. 3. Determining the Reaction Mechanism of Hydrolysis of p-Nitrophenyl Butyrate Performed by a Cold-Adapted Lipase, BplA : Finding the Rate-Limiting Step

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och bioinformatik

    Author : Linn Svalberg; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Lipases are one of the most important biocatalysts for biotechnological applications. They have high importance since lipases have a catalytic activity that is related to their hydrolysis and synthesis reactions to high regioselectivity and enantioselectivity. They also have an activity over a wide range of temperature, pH, and diverse substrates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lipase in oat endosperm: The effect of freeze-drying and oven-drying

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för kemi och biomedicin (KOB)

    Author : Ilham Hassan; [2021]
    Keywords : Lipase; oat endosperm; whole grain oat flour; water activity.;

    Abstract : The project was carried out in collaboration with Lantmännen with the aim to analyse the lipase activity in oat endosperm, non-heat-treated whole grain oat flour and heat-treated whole grain oat flour and to investigate whether lipase activity could be inactivated in oat endosperm by reducing water activity by various methods such as oven drying and freeze drying to extend oat shelf life. Lipase activity was measured by a wet extraction of the flour and an artificial substrate that gives a coloured product if lipase enzymes are active in the extract. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of a Water Activity Control and Reaction Monitoring System for Acidolysis and Transesterification Reactions using Immobilized Lipases in a Rotating Bed Reactor

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI)

    Author : Eimantas Gladkauskas; [2019]
    Keywords : Enzyme; Enzymes; Immobilized enzyme; bioreactor; rotating bed reactor; acidolysis; transesterification; arduino; water activity; thermodynamic water activity; Enzyme activity; automatic reaction tracking; reaction tracking; biotechnology; electrical engineering; relative humidity; spinchem; enzymatic synthesis; water activity control; process automation; lipases; lipase; bioteknik; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Controlled water activity in an enzymatic reaction can influence enzyme activity and productivity. A small layer of water around an enzyme gives it a required flexibility to catalyze reactions at a higher rate in contrast with the one that is dry (Adlercreutz, Dicko, Larsson, & Månsson, 2017).
