  1. 1. Generation of attosecond X-ray pulses in free-electron lasers using electron energy modulation and undulator tapering

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Author : Karl-Fredrik Boholm Kylesten; [2023]
    Keywords : attosecond; free-electron laser; XFEL; self-amplified spontaneous emission; SASE; tapering; energy modulation;

    Abstract : Free-electron lasers (FELs) are among the world's most intense artificial artificial sources of coherent light and are tunable to various wavelengths, including the X-ray spectrum. X-ray FELs (XFELs) are extremely useful for diffraction experiments to study molecules, materials, and quantum systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Constraining the Higgs width in Higgs production associated with a top quark pair

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Benjamin Dahlén; [2023]
    Keywords : Higgs; width; cross section; on-shell; off-shell; invariant mass; Standard model; upper bound; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study the width of the Higgs boson in the process pp → t ̄t 4l at LO using MadGraph5_aMC@NLO to generate the events. The contributions including the Higgs signal, continuum background and interference were considered in order to calculate the expected number of events in a broad range of four-lepton invariant masses. 3. 3. Data Reduction and Analysis with the MPRu instrument for Neutron Emission Spectroscopy at JET

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Steven Hendrik Bijl; [2023]
    Keywords : Fusion; JET; MPRu;

    Abstract : This research project centres on advancing data analysis techniques using the Magnetic Proton Recoil Upgrade Neutron Spectrometer (MPRu) for neutron emission spectroscopy during the deuterium tritium experimental campaign (DTE2) at the Joint European Torus (JET). The study aimed to address three pivotal questions, each with implications for optimizing data accuracy, quality, and utility. READ MORE

  4. 4. Coexistence of Dual Inductive Wireless Power Transfer Systems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Eneas Hållsten; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Wireless power transfer is emerging into everyday life. The idea is to create a more convenient way of charging, or at least powering, devices. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Interaction Between Electromagnetic, Gravitational, and Plasma Related Perturbations on LRS Class II Spacetimes

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Philip Semrén; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we investigate the interaction between electromagnetic, gravitational, and plasma related perturbations on homogeneous and hypersurface orthogonal Locally Rotationally Symmetric (LRS) class II spacetimes. By using these spacetimes, which allow for the inclusion of a non-zero magnetic field, as backgrounds in a perturbative approach, we are able to see interactions between the electromagnetic and gravitational variables already to first order in the perturbations.
