  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Physically oriented learning meets vocabulary acquisition and motivation: how the ESL classroom can combine with PE through cross-curricular collaboration

    University essay from Malmö universitet/Institutionen för kultur, språk och medier (KSM)

    Author : Axel Olsson; Ali Tbena; [2023]
    Keywords : CLIL; Cross-curricular; Embodied learning; English as a second language; Motivation; Physical education; Vocabulary acquisition;

    Abstract : A positive relationship between physical motion and learning is widely acknowledged. However, few studies have investigated the potential effects of combining physical movement with second language learning. READ MORE

  3. 3. Topologica linteractions in a multi-layered flocking system

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Malin Liedholm; [2023]
    Keywords : Flock simulation; Topological interaction; Multi-layered flocking system; knearest neighbour; Boids; Unity3D; Flocksimulering; Topologisk interaktion; Flerskiktigt flockningssystem; knärmaste granne; Boids; Unity3D;

    Abstract : With the multi-layered flocking system it is possible to simulate flocks that contain different types of agents that can be of various different sizes (variations in bounding radius and height). In the original implementation, the multi-layered flocking system uses a metric distance to find the nearest-neighbours of agents. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Stern-Gerlach Spectrometer for Charged Particles : A step towards an alternative method for measuring spin

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Samuel Eriksson; [2023]
    Keywords : Stern-Gerlach; Stern; Gerlach; spin; time-of-flight; time of flight; magnetic moment; spectrometer; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The purpose of this project is to investigate the performance of a spectrometer capable of measuring both momentum and spin of particles. More specifically, we investigated what parameters are required in order to separate particles with opposite spins at least 1 mm. READ MORE

  5. 5. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction study of longitudinal optical phonons in zincblende semiconductors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lassi Linnala; [2022]
    Keywords : femtosecond THz radiation; ultrafast x-ray diffraction; pump-probe; longitudinal optical phonons; zincblende semiconductors; anharmonic decay; density functional perturbation theory; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Anharmonic decay of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons in zincblende semiconductors is not at present well characterized due to the polar and many-body nature of the problem. Femtosecond THz radiation offers a novel route to this study, as the interaction of this radiation is directly with the phonon lattice and these THz excited phonons do not have enough energy to excite electrons over the band gap.
