  1. 1. Spectromorphological Reductions : Exploring and developing approaches for sound-based notation of live electronics

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Musik, medier och teater

    Author : Hans Lennart Jonsäll; [2023]
    Keywords : live electronics; electronic music; electroacoustic music; notation; spectromorphology; typo-morphology; Sound Notation; digital musical instruments.;

    Abstract : In this master’s thesis, a sound-based notation system is explored and developed in the composition and performance of a musical work for live electronics. My approach builds on existing systems for electroacoustic music analysis, most notably Dennis Smalley’s (1997) theory of spectromorphology and the symbolic language of Lasse Thoresen & Andreas Hedman (2007) based on Pierre Schaeffer’s typo-morphology, as well as Mattias Sköld’s (2023) adaptation of this system for composition and transcription (Sound Notation). 2. 2. Design and implementation of an energy harvesting system in a prosthetic limb

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Ódinn K. Rúnarsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Energy harvesting; Prosthetic limbs; Supercapacitors; Printed circuit boards; 3D printing; Energiinsamling; Lemmproteser; Superkondensatorer; Tryckta kretskort; 3D Utskrivning; Orkuöflun; Gervilimir; Ofurþéttar; Prentaðar rafrásir; Þrívíddarprentun;

    Abstract : Energy Harvesting, also known as power harvesting or ambient power, is the process of obtaining small amounts of power from secondary sources, such as vibrations, light, temperature variations and even radio-frequency emissions. These systems have been uncommon in personal and wearable electronics in the past, however they are slowly gaining traction. READ MORE

    Author : Ludvig Holm; [2023]
    Keywords : Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC ; Reverberation Chamber RC ; Vibrating Intrinsic Reverberation Chamber VIRC ; Cumulative Distribution Function CDF ; Rayleigh Distribution; Immunity testing; On-board Transmitter OBT ; Reverberating On-board Transmitter ROBT ; Expected Isotropicity; Delta-DoF; Elektromagnetisk Kompatibilitet; Modväxlande Kammare; Kumulativ Fördelningsfunktion; Rayleighfördelning; Immunitetstest; Simulerad Strålningskälla i Fordon ISO 11451-3:2015 ; Modväxlande Simulerad Strålningskälla; Förväntad Isotropicitet;

    Abstract : As the automotive industry advances through technology integration, components are designed to operate at increasingly higher frequencies. Consequently, there will be an increasing demand for automotive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. READ MORE

  4. 4. Instance Segmentation for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Component Analysis : Exploring CNNs and Transformers for Component Detection on Printed Circuit Boards

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Oliver Möller; [2023]
    Keywords : Deep Learning; Computer Vision; Image Processing; Object Detection; Instance Segmentation; Printed Circuit Board PCB ; Djupinlärning; Datorseende; Bildbehandling; Objektdetektering; Instanssegmentering; Tryckt kretskort;

    Abstract : In the intricate domain of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), object detection poses unique challenges, particularly given the broad size spectrum of components, ranging from a mere 2 pixels to several thousand pixels within a single high-resolution image, often averaging 4000x3000 pixels. Such resolutions are atypical in the realm of deep learning for computer vision, making the task even more demanding. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Texture Within : Exploring repetition, difference and timbre through solo piano playing

    University essay from Kungl. Musikhögskolan/Institutionen för jazz

    Author : Anna Wohlfarth; [2023]
    Keywords : solo piano; improvisation; live electronics; deep listening; repetition; timbre; texture; minimalism; ambient music;

    Abstract : The goal of this master project was to create reverberant sound worlds on the border between acoustic and electronic sounds. I approached this goal through the exploration of musical repetition, difference and timbre. These fields were approximated both through practical and theoretical work. READ MORE
