  1. 1. Modelling the chemical recycling of plastic waste via pyrolysis and analysing integration with existing refinery infrastructure

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Simon Dahl; [2023]
    Keywords : Pyrolysis; Recycling; Integration; Modelling; Simulation; Techno-economic; Plastic; Chemical engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Current plastic management is unsustainable as large amounts of plastic end up landfilled or in the ocean, necessitating an expansion of waste management infrastructure. Pyrolysis is a viable chemical recycling option, and in this report a pyrolysis model is constructed in Aspen Plus. READ MORE

  2. 2. Rapid expansion of roof mounted PV systems in commercial facilities - How can they be insured?

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Riskhantering (CI); Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Author : Erik Lindén; [2023]
    Keywords : PV system fires; PV component failures; PV regulations; future PV regulations; PV risk assessment; PV risk evaluation; PV insurance price; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : PV system components that are exposed to unmanageable strain can be overheated, which subsequently results in a fire ignition. Common failure factors are poor component quality, mechanical exposure due to natural phenomena and poor craftmanship. The underlying problem is that PV regulations are lacking in quality or are non-existent. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 4. 4. Electrifying Agricultural Implements : A study of design implications of electrification

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Industriell produktutveckling, produktion och design

    Author : Jonatan Magnusson; Pettersson Eric; [2023]
    Keywords : Electrification; Agriculture; Electrified implements; 48 V; Agricultural electrification; Electromechanics; Mechatronics; Mechanical Engineering; Product development; Case study;

    Abstract : As the world seeks to become less reliant on fossil fuels and use more electric energy instead new possibilities for development of agricultural implements opens. Major tractor manufacturers have recently announced tractors with over tenfold increases in electrical power. READ MORE

  5. 5. Suppression of Li-ion Battery Fires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Author : Linfan Cai; [2023]
    Keywords : Lithium-ion Battery; Fire Suppression System; Extinguishing Agent; Thermal Runaway; Battery Energy Storage System; Electric Vehicle; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a systematic literature review of fixed fire suppression systems and extinguishing agents for lithium-ion battery (LIB) fires. The review identifies 85 relevant sources published between 2013 and March 2023, and categorises different research experiments into cell-level, module-level, electric vehicle (EV) pack-level, battery energy storage system (BESS) rack-level and warehouse storage experiments, according to LIB configurations.
