  1. 1. Combustibility study of resin for warm magnet coils used at CERN

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Author : Juan Carlos Lopez Santiago; [2023]
    Keywords : Epoxy resin; flammability; radiation; aging; cone calorimeter; micro combustion calorimeter; thermogravimetric analysis; lateral ignition and flame spread test; chemical composition of polymers; polymers; epoxy composite; polymer composite; failure of epoxy resins; magnetic coil; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : CERN is the world's largest particle physics laboratory, housing multiple accelerators that rely heavily on magnetic coils. These coils are integral to the generation of powerful magnetic fields essential for particle accelerator experiments, detectors, and other equipment. READ MORE

  2. 2. Approximating Damping Coefficient of Bolted Joints using the Finite Element Method

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Abhiroop Chatterjee; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Bolted joints are important due to their energy dissipation property in structures,but the damping mechanism is also highly nonlinear and localized. The goal ofthis thesis is to develop an accurate method for modeling bolted joint dampingin large structures using finite element (FE) software. READ MORE

  3. 3. House Price and Fertility Decisions: Evidence from Taiwan

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Graduate School

    Author : Samuel Attafuah; Ko-Cheng Chang; [2022-06-23]
    Keywords : House Price; Fertility; Taiwan; Realized Fertility RF ; Fertility Intentions LF ; Fertility Gap FG ;

    Abstract : Given the concurrent incidence of falling birth rates and increasing house prices experienced in Taiwan over the past two decades, the current thesis examines the role of house prices on fertility-related behaviors and outcomes among Taiwanese households. Acknowledging that housing is a major cost associated with childrearing and the theoretical assumption that children are normal goods, we hypothesize that house price inflation will adversely impact fertility and that current non-homeowners are the most affected due to the “resource exhaustion effect”.
