  1. 1. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 2. An Investigation of the breakage process of particles : With help of experimental results and discrete element methods

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Ronni Bashiry; [2021]
    Keywords : Geotechnical Engineering; Breakage; Fracture; Spherical particles; DEM; Modelling; Numerical modelling;

    Abstract : In this study the breakage mechanics of brittle glass marbles was investigated. The pro-cess was to firstly investigate them in laboratory environment. The marbles or specimens was loaded until a crushing breakage occurred in a single point load test called Single Sphere Point load test in this document. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fracture prediction of stretched shear cut edges in sheets made of Dual-Phase steel

    University essay from Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för maskinteknik

    Author : Johannes Falk; [2017]
    Keywords : Strain; DP steel; Dual-phase steel; Autoform; Aramis; Fracture strain; Advanced High Strength Steels; AHSS; Fracture prediction;

    Abstract : Dual-Phase (DP) steels, part of the group of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS), are used by car manufactures due to its large strength to weight ratio. The high strength of the DP steel does have a negative impact on the formability during sheet metal forming and stretch forming, e.g. READ MORE

  4. 4. Shear cracks in reinforced concrete in serviceability limit state

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Alexander Chemlali; Rickard Norberg; [2015]
    Keywords : Shear cracks; Serviceability limit state; Modified compression field theory; Reinforced concrete panels; Non-linear FE analysis; Wing wall; Skjuvsprickor; Bruksgränstillstånd; Modifierad tryckfältsteori; Armerade betongpaneler; Icke linjär FE-analys; Vingmur;

    Abstract : Shear cracks are formed when high oblique tensile stresses, e.g. in thin webs, exceed the tensile strength. A known example of this phenomenon is the extensive shear cracks that were found on the box-girder bridges Gröndal and Alvik, which were mainly caused by insufficient amount of shear reinforcement. 5. 5. Olinjärt ultraljud för undersökning av sprickor i skelettet hos häst, en pilotstudie

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Author : Katarina Sandelin; [2015]
    Keywords : skelettskada; NAW; sidband; mikrosprickor; fraktur; micro cracks; fracture; fissure; side band;

    Abstract : Fissurer och odislocerade frakturer hos häst kan ibland vara svåra att upptäcka utan avancerad bilddiagnostik. Det är dock viktigt att diagnostisera dem i tid för att hindra att skadorna förvärras. READ MORE
