  1. 1. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 2. The Investigation of Crack Propagation in Cortical Bone using a Phase Field Fracture Approach

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Olivia Karlsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Cortical Bone; Cortical bone microstructure; Phase field; Phase field fracture approach; Crack propagation; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Human cortical bone tissue is a complex and strong composite material, with the ability to resist damage via slowing, stopping or redirecting propagating cracks. However, the ability is impaired with age. At the microscale, changes are seen both in terms of increased porosity and as changes in local material parameters. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assessment of creep damage in Fe-Ni-Cr alloys

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära (Avd.)

    Author : Frans Sorsh; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : It is only a matter of time before components working in high temperature environments fail due to creep. Design for creep is therefore of vital importance to maximize the lifetime of components and reduce costs that may arise from maintenance and replacement of components. READ MORE

  4. 4. Application of Dynamic Grouting to Improve the Grout Spread Using Varying Aperture Long Slot (VALS) : AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik; KTH/Byggvetenskap

    Author : Robabeh Hosseini; Yalta Steven; [2018]
    Keywords : grout penetrability; filtration tendency; varying aperture long slot; sealing; cement-based grout; dynamic grouting; bruksinträngningsförmåga; filtrationstendens; VALS; tätning; cementbaserade injekteringsmedel; dynamisk injektering;

    Abstract : In the past centuries, grouting has been one of the most common techniques in geotechnical engineering to strengthen and seal underground structures. Concerning increasing demands for tightness and cost efficiency, cement-based grout has been one the most frequent used materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Olinjärt ultraljud för undersökning av sprickor i skelettet hos häst, en pilotstudie

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Author : Katarina Sandelin; [2015]
    Keywords : skelettskada; NAW; sidband; mikrosprickor; fraktur; micro cracks; fracture; fissure; side band;

    Abstract : Fissurer och odislocerade frakturer hos häst kan ibland vara svåra att upptäcka utan avancerad bilddiagnostik. Det är dock viktigt att diagnostisera dem i tid för att hindra att skadorna förvärras. READ MORE
