  1. 1. Feeding routines and feed quality on small-scale dairy farms in Baringo, Kenya

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Author : Maja Möller; [2018]
    Keywords : Small-scale dairy farm; smallholder dairy farm; fodder; feed; Dairy meal; Kenya; Baringo; feed quality; feeding routines;

    Abstract : An increasing population together with a growing interest in consumption of animal proteins requires an intensified dairy production in Kenya. The aver-age milk production of 4.4 litres per cow and day is neither efficient enough nor reach the genetic capacity of the exotic dairy cattle used in the small-holder dairy sector. READ MORE

  2. 2. Milk production and protein utilization in high producing dairy cows fed a low CP diet based on cereals and roughage only : a full lactation study

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Author : Susanna Räisänen; [2016]
    Keywords : dairy cows; lactation; milk production; protein utilization; nitrogen efficiency; dietary protein level;

    Abstract : A feeding trial investigating the effect of a concentrate diet consisting only of cereals on milk production, protein utilization and nitrogen efficiency was conducted on Swedish dairy cows. 13 SRB and 12 SH cows were randomly assigned to one of two groups: group 1 was fed a concentrate feed (Cereal), mainly consisting of barley (36%), wheat (34%), oats (25%) as well as molasses (2%) and a mineral and vitamin mix (3%), whereas group 2 had access to both Cereal and a protein rich concentrate feed (Prot) based mainly on soya bean (51%) and rapeseed cake (28%). 3. 3. Opportunities and constraints for the manufacture of bio-ethanol for transportation needs in Mauritius

    University essay from KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Author : Eliane Marie Christina Etienne; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The Republic of Mauritius comprises a main island of an area of 1870km2 at latitude 200 south and longitude 580 east and several outer islands, all of volcanic origin. Mauritius has no known oil, natural gas or coal reserves and is therefore heavily dependent on imported energy sources. READ MORE

  4. 4. Life cycle assessment and resource management options for bio-ethanol production from cane molasses in Indonesia

    University essay from KTH/Energi och klimatstudier, ECS

    Author : Bharadwaj Kummamuru Venkata; [2013]
    Keywords : Life cycle assessment; GHG emissions; Net energy value; Energy yield ratio; Resource allocation; Sensitivity analysis;

    Abstract : The intent of this thesis is to analyse the sustainability of producing bio-ethanol from cane molasses in Indonesia and its potential to replace gasoline in the transportation sector. A field trip was conducted in East Java, Indonesia, and data was gathered for analysis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analysis of vortex movement in an YBCO thin film : Models of the vortex solid-to-liquid transition compared to a sensitive resistive measurement of a strongly pinned YBCO thin film

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Alex Ellgren; [2013]
    Keywords : High-temperature superconductor; YBCO; vortex dynamics; glass transition; vortex glass; vortex molasses;

    Abstract : When a high-temperature superconductor transitions in the presence of a magnetic field, the resistance does not immediately go to zero. Instead, the transition is smoothed by the resistive effects of moving vortices so that perfect conductivity isn't reached until several K below Tc, where the vortices have frozen into a glass state.
